I need to change the gear oil in my 12 bolt, what does Strange recommend? Its got the posi, so I'm sure it needs an additive. I've always used the GM stuff in the 10 bolt, had bad experiences with the other brands.

Check to see what brand posi unit is in it. I just ordered two quarts of Royal Purple synthetic to change the lube in my Moser, but then later remembered that it came with an Eaton posi and they included a little card that says use only mineral-based lubricants. Now I have two quarts of 75-90 Royal Purple that I can't use I guess maybe I'll change the fluid in my truck.

non synthetic 75-140 in mine. I called strange and they said to not use synthetic in their posi units.

Just spoke to Strange on Friday. 12 bolt with HD Eaton = 2 Qts Non -Synthetic 85W140 + 4 oz of limited slip additive.

I used Lucas Oil for the 1st time to see how it works.

However, I didn't put the additive in because I've read threads that say if you want less slip in your posi don't add it.

I use Dino 75w-140 with ford posi lube. You know you got the right stuff if it smells like bad B.O.

Yeah, I did that once too. Killed the posi. Not a good idea, its actually a friction modifier, makes the posi work better.

Does your posi still chatter going around a turn off the gas? I have a Strange as well, HD Eaton, and have the additive in there.

I don't know if you were asking me. My rearend never chattered around corners and it isn't with the Lucas either.

Just asking in general. Doesn't do it when I have a load on the drivetrain, but coasting I can feel it a little around a sharp turn. I even put a little more additive in there and it didn't change anything. It's nothing I'm worried about, but thought I would ask others.
