is it an internal problem in the box? or is it just not enough for the monster you and shawn have created? lol

The box is actually overkill, its not compatible with the "optional electronics" in my BS3. If anyone needs a MSD 10 box, I got one for sale cheap.

haha....yeah the msd10 box is overkill on gasoline....although we had it running on several big stuff cars around here so i'm not sure what thats all about (i remember something about a resistor to hook it to the 7531 box). that new combo should get you close to 160mph in the 8th easy!! good luck

side note- what is this the damn bowman thread of ls1tech?

I heard about being able to hook a Dig 7 to an MSD 10. not sure how it works though? leave the outputs disconnected on the 7, and the boxes know what's going on?

Yeah you got that right. The MSD 10 box will work on a standard BS3 box with the 7531 but you can't run ETM.

Would you rather go racing or have a video of startup? I need some scales this week if we go.

Apparently the MSD10 box uses the same rev chips but it doesn't have the same internals as a 6al/7al/MSD8 or pro mag. John and Leo said they have done significant testing with the MSD10 box and they can't get all the functionality to work correctly for some reason. Swap it out to an 8 box and it works flawless. The one thing the new box does is adds a 4th rev limiter so we'll have the 9000 motor rev limiter, 3800 pre-staging, 4000 staging, and possibly another one for the burnout box.

yeah, no need to get the whole msd catalog in the car....if your talking with john then your good to go, but I wonder if that ETM stuff will work better than a properly tuned 7531...by the time its in the lights we have what? a boost controller, c02 system, bs3 timing, msd timing, 2step 3step 4, ETM, ABS, TCM, STM, etc...we like to keep it simple for us rednecks

we've had the discussion about which is better, the etm or the 7531.Based off our own experience and some other opinions from guys that seem to know a thing or 2,it seemed the consensus was the etm was better.

We even considered running the 7531 piggybacked with the 8 box so we could have everything but, couldn't see spending $2000.00 in ignition boxes.Plus like you said, trying not to make it too complicated.

well we always just run a 7531, coil and a bs3...save that msd 8 for alky
if anyone can compete with msd products though, its john.
i guess that etm should work but you still have to get a good boost curve, nothings free/easy (as you know) or everyone would be goin 6's on radials...good luck with it!!

Fought a **** ton of oil leaks today, the oil pan was leaking at the front and rear, I've got 3 AN fittings that just won't seem to seal and my trans pan plug was leaking. Pulled the oil pan and changed gaskets hopefully thats fixed. Fixed the trans pan issue so now thats not leaking. I found 3 fittings to replace the ones on the car so I'll deal with that tomorrow. Got the new igntion coil mounted and a couple of small things for this week.....starting to look pretty good!

I hate dealing with oil leaks. I have to take the girdle and the oil pan off tomorrow morning to try and get them to seal up, its leaking enough to stop us from heading to the track. Got the fittings swapped and everything else is basically ready.

Oh I also removed 125# this morning in ballast putting our weight at a scant 3015.
