Default After a LONG 2 years, the BEAST is ALIVE! Pics & vid

After a LONG 2 years, it's FINALLY done! I am so RELIEVED to say the least. A lot of time, money, hard work, and late nights went into this build. I just can't believe it's finally finished. I learned a lot along the way, but it's nice to know/say that it was all done in our own garage, with our own 2 hands. There's only so much you can ask and search for here on the board, the rest is up to you to experience/perform it for yourself. We ran into a lot of things that held us back, but in time and research, we got them sorted out. I thought I had it all figured out prior to starting, but of course, when you get into it, things come along that you just weren't expecting.

I want to give out a special thanks to Erik Koenig, Beck, Greg Good, Joe Huneycutt (sp?), Mike Whitehouse, and Ben Robertson, as they were all apart of this entire build, but most of all, my father (if he reads this), because without him, none of this would have been possible. I also can't forget about this site, with all the info and helpful members.

Friday will be the FIRST time out in over 2 years. Of course, we're dealing with a completely different animal here (70 more cubes, ~3.5 more points of compression, and a lot more power), so we will just be "testing and tuning." I am going to leave everything as it was, with the exception of lowering the front end just a tad and tightening up the travel limiters so that I don't flip the damn car over. So to those who have followed the car or that are interested in seeing it, I will be out Friday for sure, possibly even Wednesday.

I will snap some better shots tomorrow as I ran out of day light.

Here's a quick rundown on what was added/changed from the old setup:

Engine:

Long block assembled by HK Racing Engines (Erik Koenig)
GM LS3 block
Callies 4” Dragonslayer crank
Callies connecting rods
Wiseco pistons, rings, & pins
Custom HKE cam (254/266 .650” 112 +4)
GM LS3/LS1 rocker arms w/Harland Sharp mod
N-Motion LS2 single roller timing set
Melling high volume oil pump
Manton 3/8” pushrods
Morel hydraulic lifters
ARP studs/bolts throughout
416 cubic inch
13.5:1 compression ratio

Cylinder heads:

Ported, polished, and assembled by Greg Good
LS3 castings
Titanium intake valves
Ferrah hollow stem exhaust valves
Patriot Extreme dual spring kit

Intake:

Custom built by Beck
High volume fuel rails w/-8 AN fittings
Matched to cylinder heads

Other new additions:

Star Machine standard vacuum pump, bracket, pulleys, regulator, and mandrel
ATI super balancer (machined at work to accept drive mandrel)
Mototron (Siemens/Deka) 60 lb. flow matched injectors
Lingenfelter launch control (rev limiter/2-step)
MSD LS1 universal spark plug wires (cut to fit)
Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator
Aeromotive fuel pressure gauge
Strange manual master cylinder
Moroso remote oil filter
Moroso oil catch can
Moroso oil pan
GMPP valve covers
GM chrome filler cap
NGK TR7 spark plugs
C12 VP Racing fuel

Misc.

Drilled & welded -12AN fitting onto valley cover for vacuum system (at work)
Machined oil pan due to a flaw near the inlet/outlet of the oil ports (at work)
Cut cowl to fit intake manifold
Specialty brake fitting (male bubble flare to female inverted 3/16” line)
34 ½” 6 rib belt for balancer & alternator (made alternator adjustable, took own
measurement for belt)
Deleted factory fuel pressure regulator
Deleted fuel purge solenoid
Used evaporator line as a return
Fabricated mounting for vacuum pump and catch can
Fabricated mounting for relocated coil packs
Fabricated fuel pressure regulator mount
Fabricated mount for remote oil filter
Fabricated throttle cable bracket
Fabricated brake lines
Plumbed fuel & oil lines

Work remaining:

Install Wolfe front half kit (6 point to 10 point)
Fabricate intake system/tract
Get cage certified
Get licensed

Thanks everyone for the compliments. I will keep everyone updated as far it performs at the track. I don't plan on running my best time right off the trailer as I have a lot of testing and tuning to do.

Thats awesome man, glad to see it completed! I've always thought your car was about the most sinister looking car I've seen, just evil!

What are the ET goals when its all sorted out?

csjta2, 29.5x10x15 ET Drag for now.

Gimp98TNT, yes I used Star's mandrel instead of ATI's. I had to open up the ID on the balancer to locate it. I'll post more pics later today.

TS6, I'd be happy with 9.50s, but the faster the better.

Default finally

Wow, I cant believe its finally done. I have been keeping track of your build for a while, and it seemed as though your project was never going to be finished. Our setups went in some what similar directions. A couple years ago my Camaro was powered by a TRex cammed 346. Now I am running a 413 cid LS2 with ported L92 heads. Although your new setup is much more extreme than mine. I am still curious as to what kind of hp your setup should make, although Im sure it will really shine at the strip. Congratulations on finishing the build. It looks great, Im sure it was difficult watching everyone else race while your car was under construction.

FASTFATBOY, good...great!

ONEBADWS6, my car isn't going to put down a whole lot of power because it's so race oriented. TH350, no lockup, 5800 stall converter, 4.56 gear, 30" slicks, etc. eat up a lot of power. I did have it on the dyno, but there was complications. It affected the power, how much, I can't say, but it was down on power. I didn't even have the vacuum system on which is worth power too, but I still mananged to pull 545 rwhp SAE. I will post new numbers when it gets strapped to the dyno again. I'd imagine around 575 rwhp when it's all said and done.

fastGBcamaro, read the above post. Yes, it was hard watching everyone race for 2 years while I was up on stands.

I have the same driveline stuff but a TH400, and I know they don't shine on the dyno I was at 504rwhp.
