Default Moser Trutrac and axle problems. <500hp

A few of you knew i was having posi issues at the race, well after pulling the 9" apart i found the problem.

Twisted both Moser 31 spline axle's, and tweeked some wheel studs, on motor!!! (~500rwhp)
( driver's side took most of the load, passenger side wasn't as bad)

Best 60ft all weekend was a 1.76 worst was 1.900, this was the first time to a track with 20 miles on the new Moser 9.

Looks like i am upgrading to 35 or 40 spline axle's with a spool

Only thing i can figure is when the trutrac wasn't working correctly all of the load went the drive side axle. The reason i say that is during the first few burnout the passenger side was not spinning as much. Moser wants to take a look at the trutrac because they haven't had very many fail.

Video's from the track.

Damn and at the event everyone said "I" was doing some thing wrong because I twist my studs all the time

Good thing you caught it before it snapped an axle!

Those tru trac's are garbage. I tell every person I knwo NOT to go with one of those, the eaton is a good diff if you can't deal with a spool, and they are rebuildable, unlike a tru trac, and the eaton certainly seems to hold up a TON better then that tru trac POS

Plus, the trutrac has teh axles cut different, so you can't even reuse them and go to a eaton or spool, so when that thing goes, if you want to get away from it, it's axles too.

In this case, you're putting axles in the car anyway, and I"d stop screwing around and go to a set of 5/8 studs too if you want to race the car.

If you're making 500 rw and have nitrous on top of it, the 5/8 studs IMO are a must, launching that car off the limiter on the nitrous will certainly eat up anything less then the 5/8 stud quickly, hell you're already doing it n/a

5/8 studs are a great idea for serious drag applications. I ran a Moser 12 bolt with the Tru-Trac for over a year and never had an issue. We put down 538/500 rwhp/tq and never had any issues. Putting the bottle on top of that would have changed things. The MT Drag Radials are very hard on parts at the hit. I would guess you were running them in this case.

That is wicked though. Thanks for sharing.

I reccomend the spool...I have a spool in my Moser 12-bolt and it's much more driveable than people suggest. I'm really not sure why people are so shocked that my DD has a spool.
