Do you think these same results could be achieved usind any 243 castings(LS2) or just the Z06 specific with the sodium filled valves??

Just an FYI for those reading this thread. I've done this swap quite a few times, and these results are not typical in a 241 headed car. The most I've seen from an LS6 cam in a full bolt on F-body & untouched heads is 385rwhp, but most of them hovering in the 360-370 range.. Jason's car has a rebuilt bottom end with a little different specs than a completely stock shortblock, which I'm sure helped.

Times have changed a LOT since this thread. There are cams out there now that make much more power than a Z06 cam, while retaining perfect driveability.

Mine is 04 Z06 243's and cam.... full bolt on car making 403/403 hp/tq.

If you like i can get the dyno sheet. No porting and through stock dual dual exhaust too.

Too bad it is a heavy pig of a vert.

all that in a car that weights around 3300 lbs
It should run real nice, you'll love it.

Next local private track event we have around here I'm going to let it eat again and see how much I've picked up from the smooth bellow and gear.. probably just a couple tenths and a mph maybe.

I'm going to put a bottle or heads/1.8 rockers on it now as my brother has recently added a 228/232 camshaft to his 02 z06 so I gotta do something to keep up.

How much more would you say I'd pick up with how big of a camshaft, I'm not a big fan of stinky exhaust at idle and jerking around parking lots, too.

I would imagine it to be a very minimal difference just so long as the compression is the same.

What would be a good example of a great power cam with perfect driveability? I am not too up on what cams are a good buy.

You just leave a little power on the table when there's really no reason to go with mids..

WOW! great read... it sure brings back some memories... I know Jason had some serious fun with that particular combo. IIRC, that shortblock was really nothing special. Just a little attention to detail... Jason sure can put them together.

The good old days! That was a very fun setup. Still miss the CheaTR cam in the black car - that was my all time favorite. Stock manifolds/cats, Stg 2 heads and that cam made 405rwhp/390rwtq

https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...olds-cats.html

Might have to put the LS2 version in the Trailblazer SS.

Great #'s man I'm leaning towards this set since I'm on a budget with my car, are you m6 or a4 & were the 243 heads stock??
