Default Finally got my ASA Tuned

I finally made a trip to MAYHEM motorsports up in Raleigh, North Carolina to get my car tuned yesterday. The guys @ Mayhem know there stuff. Im not to impressed with the Hp number i only made 356 RWHP . But the torque started @ 350 from about 2300 rpm's all the way threw the band, that impressed me though. My car is a M6 2000. Car has stock TB & Mass air, Stock LS1 intake, Stock pulley also. Mods are:

SLP Lid
Pacesetters
4.10's
GMPP ASA
Flowmaster Universal fit 2 chamber muffler in stock location

get you an intake, pulley, and real catback and those #'s will definitely go up. Not bad though, gotta like the torque curve. Mayhem also did my car as well.

Thats weird i just posted in your thread also. yeah thinking about intake and pulley and some exhaust like you got. I have seen alot of people say the ASA cam needs free flowing exhaust.

your muffler and intake are choking you back big time. that should be easily a 20-25 rwhp gain imo

also an underdrive pulley helps too

LS6 intake is definately worth it, mine was a big help on the stock motor. It should really benefit you with the cam installed.

I have this cam on a auto 1998 z28 camaro, I have long tub headers, 4:10 gears, 3200 converter, and tune using hp tuners, ls6 valve springs, this car is making very bad track numbers, I ran a 13.37 with just tires and 4:10s now got all this stuff and ran a 13.4 before converter, now after converter I ran one 13.6 and alot of 14.00s what is going on.

before anyone makes a comment about his times, realize we live in the desert, the da is usually 1800-2750',so most cars that run 13.00s @sea level generally run 13.4-13.6.
the car above spins on DR's it hits 2nd gear and seems to fall off as if it is being shifted short(a4)1/4 mile mph is 104-106,this car should be trapping 110-114,its known the car could use more stall(4000-4400).personally i think an Ls1 at this level has the wrong cam in it for an auto,110 lobe center is too tight i could be wrong but if it was an m6 car it would work better.i also think the 4.10s are too much with an a4 at this level

Something isn't right. With this cam you should be able to pull mid to low 12s. I do now that the ASA cam needs free flowing exhaust.
Kevins2000ls1- congrats on the torque curve. If my tranny didn't go out i would deff go with the asa cam.

i installed my ASA 3 weeks ago and took it to my tuner. The cam made less torque and power than my hotcam in low/mid range. After 5 runs he got peak power almost the same about 370. I have pacesetters, 3 inch y-pipe gmmg catback, 243 heads, ls6 intake through an m6. im swapping the cam out for a MTI C2 581 224/224 114. Hoping to get more power but one thing i will miss about the LSA, is the awesome lope. Sounds like a got a big block in the car.

i thought for sure this would be the last cam swap. like i said, i love the lope on this cam. i may just switch out the springs and run 918's and put 1.8RR . We will see if i change my mind.

Yeah i love the sound of thie ASA cam, And if i can get 380 RWHP i would be very happy. Cause you cant beat the sound, and the "maintanence free" worries of the run LS6 springs. Im just going to add the normal bolt-ons and see what it does.

Whats your 60' times?? you have got to be spinning, or the tune isn't right. Was it Dyno tuned? With my 356 HP it runs like a RAPPED APE.

Yes I do. With that cam, those mods should net you another 30hp. With lt's, td's, LS6 intake, pulley, and ported tb from Bo White (which is top notch btw) I made the #'s in my sig. I say get the bolt-on's and if you're still not happy, then switch cams. Good luck!

Put a better merge on your PS y-pipe and the power should pick up some as well. He can fix the downlow torque playing with A/F ratios and timing. Just be sure not to have too much timing at peak torque or he will get into detonation and kill a piston. I always run as much timing as I can get away with down low and take it away at peak torque and then gradually add it back in after peak torque since you would no longer be at 100% VE. Use a 7 or 8 plug to play with tuning like this. If you dont understand the concept of heat range plugs and go based off of what everyone else is doing is okay, then yes swap cams. You have to understand tuning theories and spark plugs before you can get what you want out of anything you touch performance wise.
