Get the 90mm Fast or just get the LS6, don't bother wasting your money on the 78 Fast. Friend did it and it was a waste, when he upgraded to the 90 it was a whole new car.

With minimal porting to a Fast 78 you can run a 85mm tb which will be a cheaper alternative to the Fast 90/90 and perform nearly as well. Used Fast 78 can be picked up cheap as well as the Professional Products 85mm throttlebodies.

I doubt the stock Fast 78 would gain over a LS6.

I believe an unported 78 is worth about 8hp over an LS6. Ported - 18hp.

Sounds about right. We did back/back testing when they first came out. Did very well on a mild H/C car.

Ditto. THe 78mm FAST is a nice piece. We have done 2 Cam only LS6 Z06's with the FAST 78mm. And they are making about 20 more RWHP over cars with the same cam/mods running LS6 intakes.

We just did a 02 Z06 that made 447 RWHP with Kooks, vararam, cam, pulley, FAST 78mm through stock Z06 exhaust!

So a ported 78mm FAST is as good as a 90mm FAST unported?

Out of the box will show 6-8 RWHP.....add 5-10 more for a ported version depending on the rest of the combo and who does the porting. A 90 mm is worth 5 more RWHP all else being equal and ALOT more throttle response and SOTP which makes part throttle operation alot more fun but doesn't change the fact peak numbers will only be about 5 RWHP different assuming both intakes are ported and that assumes a ported 78mm epoxied TB (not an unported 78 TB).

Hope this helps...

Tony

i say yes, or even better in some cases, depending on engine combination. If you do a FAST 78, make sure you use a 78mm t/b along with it, for best results.
