Looks like a typical budget build w/ typical results. Nice torque. Does the torque come up early and have a nice, flat curve? I do not see a ported and polished TB or intake manifold on there. Also, what y-pipe are you running? If you are still running a stock intake manifold, I can easily believe that some minor exhaust work, p/p TB, and a better intake manifold could get you up to or over 400/400. That, IMO, would be some pretty good results for a budget build DD w/ your cam in a 98.

I'm done for now.

LS6 intake will net 5-6 h.p. Not worth the coin IMHO. I need to keep the EGR for emissions so the Fast intake and throttle body are out.

Just so you know, my buddy just swapped an LS6 intake and 80mm TB onto his 2000 Vette (has a MS3 and exhaust) two weeks ago. He swapped nothing but the intake and TB and picked up 22rwhp. 390rwhp to 412rwhp. Just fyi.

Well, what's the setup? And surprisingly, even just HP-wise you put most of us in here to shame, nevermind track numbers.

Yeah, but you put headers and catback on it and you'll pick up 50rwhp.

You win for sure so far...even if you added 50rwhp for headers and a good catback. That cam should be making about 410 at the wheels alone I would think.

I would say that would be me with 390rwhp and 310ftlbs of torque.
I've got ls6 intake, comp cam 224/230, patriot stage 2 heads, headers/exhaust, joe blow ported tb. This is on a t-56 trapped ALMOST 116mph.
Trying decide if i should switch to a fast intake with some tsp heads maybe add an underdrive pulley as thats what most guys making 500rwhp seem to have. However I can't imagine those changes will make for 90rwhp difference. So maybe I should just part ouf the engine and go for an tsp ls7. I mean $ for $ it will probally cost me 3k to swap the parts and stay with the ls1 crossing my fingers and hoping for 500rwhp or I could spend 8k and know i'll be making a minimum of 550 to the wheels.

DAMN, I just realized how long this was

Maybe I got you guys pretty beat with my weaksauce setup.

bbk intake and t.b, 80mm
mti lid
hooker longtubes dumped to bullets
granatelli maf
42# racetronix
5.3 heads, supposedly been milled down to 58cc, and ported and polished. SUPPOSEDLY
f13 cam 230/232 595/585 112
comp 918s
stock t-56 w/ ls7 clutch
bone stock 10 bolt

404/391 the torque is good, but we were looking for alot more hp. since the heads were definite unknown, all i was hoping for was at least 415/390.

i've been trying to troubleshoot my problem areas, and i know i need to get rid of the bbk setup, but im waiting to see how the weiand does. i dont know how the granatelli maf does compared to others, but its huge and open, so i cant complain.

the heads were cheap enough that no matter what they would have been a gain over my 98 heads. the seller claimed that they were ported and polished, and milled to 58cc but i never verified and he never had them on his car so we don't know for sure what the deal is with them. when i got them also, the casting number was machined off one of the heads too. they were cheap enough to be hit or miss, but i don't think they are all they are made out to be.

i also need to get rid of the bbk crap. that **** was a definite impulse buy when i didnt know anything about the car.

any ideas?

Mods in sig. Hoped for much more for the $$$ I dropped. Soon to add FAST 92/92 ported by Tony Mamo. Hopefully that will help out. Not sure if they nailed the tune though, still drives inconsistent.
