Default TSP 233/239 heads/cam dyno untuned today... have questions?

today i dynod my car. mods are in the signature. i didn't install the touched up 215 TFS heads yet, i will do that later. the dyno was with the stock heads that i ported myself with stock valves

i have the dyno sheet but i have yet to scan it for you.

the car was very lean at WOT between 14:1 to 15.5:1.

also i was on the stock factory tune with the stock rev limiter at 6200 rpm.

the car did 374 rwhp at 6200 rpm and 361 rwtq at 4800 rpm on the stock factory tune.

i will try another dyno with the stock tune but with the rev limiter raised to 7200 rpm.

my questions :

1- what is the power band of the TSP 233/239 0.595"/0.605" 112lsa cam?

2- is it safe for the stock short block to spin to 7200rpm? i still have stock rod bolts?

thanks.

I spun my old T/A with H/C all the way to 7200rpm with no problem what so ever for over 4months then I sold the car and the engine is still running strong but I wouldnt do that I really didnt care if something happend to the engine at that time I wanted to upgraded but nothing happed.
lol

If I were you I would worry about Air Fuel ratio 1st.
What kind of fuel pump do you have??? Injectors???

Check TSP To see the power band of the cam .

Oh good numbers for stock tune BTW Keep us posted.

Are you trying to hurt that motor?Get a tune before you worry about how high you spin it!

i found the power band of the 233/239 cam it is 1900 to 6500 rpm. i will spin the motor to 7200 rpm one time at the dyno just to see where the power will drop and set the rpm limiter just before the power drop and then will do a full tune later.

i will keep you posted.

you are asking for trouble running that thing 7k + rpm when its running lean like that. get it tuned first unless you dont care if it blows up.

+1 .. that's about the dumbest **** I've ever heard of. If he intends on blowing it up, let it eat!

i redynoed today again after doing the following by HP tuners :

1- raised the rpm limiters to 7200 rpm.
2- removed the dirts from the K&N filter (SLP lid).

the K&N filter wasn't cleaned completely, it also needed the cleaning spray the filter oil to completely be done with the filter. all i did was just removing the dirts from filter.

the car did 388 rwhp @ around 6200 rpm and 367 rwtq @ around 4800 rpm. i gained 14 peak rwhp and 6 peak rwtq. still it is lean today although generaly it was a little less lean than yesterday, the A/F ratio was between 14:1 to 16.2:1.

now i just need to clean the air filter and set the rpm limiter at 6500 rpm and redyno. then i will tune it. i know it is a little risky for the engine to dyno that lean but it is just little times to dyno.

how much do you expect i will gain if the air fuel ratio set at 12.9 to 13.1 ?

i will try to post the graph later since i need to scan the dyno sheet some where since i don't have a scanner.

thanks.

14:1 isn't THAT bad, but I'd definately throw some more fuel at it. Even if you did just 5% across the board.

14:1 and 7200 is a recipe for disaster...

my 233/239 peaked at exactly 6,550 RPM with a 112 LSA. Your numbers are very close to mine. My limiter was set at 7k and my shift was at 6,800. This was also wth a stock ls1 intake and t/b, and stock heads. My a/f on a dyno jet was like 12.7 to 1. I would REALLY like to see what those tfs 215's do.... i am thinkin about the same thing.

i will install the touched up TFS 215 heads later. i just want to see what the stock heads that i ported my self with the stock valves will do on the dyno.

these TFS 215 heads flew 325cfm @ as i can remember 0.600" lift with only 218cc intake runner after touching them up (very slight porting at critical areas in the intake and exhaust ports). i have these heads sitting right now at home.

i will aim for the air/fuel ratio that will give me the highest rwhp or maybe set the air/fuel ratio by 2 to 4 tenths richer to be on the safe side.

6800 should be the highest that car should rev to.

i foresee a "why did my engine pop" thread in the near future with that rev limiter and a/f ratio

i will raise the PE table by 10% to be in the safe side then i will tune from there for the next dyno.
