Default 2000 Z28 vs Porsche Carrera 4

Hey guys (and girls) I'm supposed to run a friend from work and he has a 1999 Porsche Carrera 4, stock. Just wondering what you think will happen and any thoughts on roll speed for me to shine, (if possible). I have an A4. Also, will high speeds like 110mph+ help or hurt me? Thanks for any thoughts.

Don't go from a dig and don't go higher than 120mph and you've got a good shot. I raced my brother in law in his old 993 Carrera (2wd model) in my SS and he beat me by two lengths to 130

Yeah, I think you're in trouble. From a dig he should kill you with his AWD. He makes a bit less hp and a lot less torque than you but they weigh quite a bit less than you do and they seem to perform very well for their hp/tq numbers. Nevertheless, run it and see what happens! Post up the results!

Which rear gear ratio do you have? Catch him on the right kickdown and you'll walk him to 100 pretty good. From a dig, if you hook - you'll be ok. If you start at the wrong speed - he'll walk you and make you feel slow. Above 100 he's going to slowly start to pull you.

It's perfectly winnable as it is, you really need to know what your car will do and massage the race to suit you. It's close though, if it doesn't suit you, you will not win.

I ran a carrera (2004ish) from a 60 roll on the highway. I was taking my buddy for a ride becuase he wanted to see what the spray felt like and saw the porsche up ahead. When I got beside him he down shifted and hit, I flipped the switch and freight trained him, 5+ cars with the 100 shot, I shut down it at around 130-135mph

jmilz28, I have the crappy 2.73 gears. They work out for me because I have always enjoyed freeway racing rather than dig or slow roll racing. But they put me at a disadvantage since I moved into the mountains and can't really utilize high speeds.
Everybody, should I delay until I can purchase a lid or will I just be delaying my loss?

A lid isnt going to do you much good. See what happens.. if he wins, then mod up.
