What gears do you have, OP? Did you say it and I just missed it? Hopefully not 2.73s because that would be bad news for you. You're gonna need some bolt-ons to make that a good race.
I've never seen a bone stock 01-02 LS1 legitimately put down 320+ to the wheels SAE on a dynojet. 290-310, but 320+ is pushing it.
All that work and only 320 to to the wheels? Man that is not good!
Tell him to sell it and get an LS1! '01 and '02's make that (or more) stock!
And if he is having all that work done, he can probably afford to upgrade, so tell him to go to the next level and get a C5 Z06 or a Terminator.
Then pulley the Terminator and add bolt-ons or supercharge the Z06 and add exhaust.
Done.
All that work to get beat by a stock LS1 Vette 6-speed, let alone an LS2 or an LS3...tell him he's wasting his time...

but i'd go basics first, LT's, intake and tune.

yes! LT's intake and tune should be enough, 3.23's arent the greatest but will actually help you out by not roasting the tires from a stop, unless of coarse GT dude has some sticky tires with those 4.10's, then you might need the 3.73's and a sticky tire.

well if he is gunna swap gears the 3.42's wouldn't be a significant change, unless he just got the whole rear-end from a M6 car, which personally i'll be doing sometime in the future, but if you are just gunna change gears and don't care much about gas mileage i'd go 4.10's or at least 3.73's as Stopsign said.

Id Spray. Then you can really make him feel like an ***..
" Wait a min... your H/C?" "i dont even have a catback"
Actually i would pull out some weight Stall gear Dr LT's. Then L2D.

yes only around 320 to the wheels...but this is where it seems that mustangs are a bit different than ls1's...ls1 will put that much to the wheels and only run low 13's...while i know two guys making under 310 to the wheels (5spd edge gt) and one ran 12.0 and the other 12.1...if you don't believe it there is a quite popular video of the guy that ran 12.1...name is trevor. silver mustang with black wheels i believe.
