Default Can I make high 12's?

Sup,

I'm driving an 01' m6 WS6 T/A. As of right now I just finished putting on my SLP lid and K&N filter. I have some Nitto 555R on the back. Also have flowmaster catback. (Yes the chokemasters).

You think its possible for me to pull it off? Anything I should add thats not a huge upgrade atm? I keep hearing about this free P+P or ported Throttle body but don't know much about it.

Hmmmmmmm let me think about it for a second Awwwwwwww NO!!!! Sorry bro!! Now with all bolt ons, better exhaust and a dyno tune I would say yes!! But not in your current status.. If you wana know for sure take it to the track and make a few passes and post it up!!

Full bolt-ons just to snag 12s? Nah..

Realistically, you'll probably snag bottom 13s if you're a decent driver.

With nothing but a lid and full exhaust, my 2.73'd, automatic '98 has run multiple 12.9s at 106-107mph with a 1.9 60ft. This was on my stock 16" wheels with 245mm Kumhos. Jetlag's '02 ran 12.7s at 109(I believe it was 109) with the exact same set up. A friend of mine, BG, managed 13.0s in his '00 Z28 with nothing but a catback, lid and 3.42s swapped in.

Mine ran 13.4 @ 104 with a 2.0 60ft before the headers; just a lid and the muffler hacked off. I think it could've done a 13.2 with a better 60 and in nicer weather, but that's all bench racing.

Whether you can drive that thing to 12s is beyond me, but your car could potentially hit them with very little done. With a prepped track and nice conditions, cut a 1.8-1.9 60, shift your *** off and it might be possible.

If not, order some Pacesetters.

I did the throttle body thing and, personally, found it to be a complete waste of time. Haven't had it on a dyno to see a difference, but I think it's minimal at best. Your best bet with the current set up is to perfect your technique and maybe leave the spare/jack laying in the garage next time you hit the track. That's well over 30lbs you don't need to go fast. Carry some Fix-a-flat, brotha!

If you're not into that Flow', hack it off. That'll save damn near 40lbs alone and still sound great.

Here's mine when it was stock, except for the muffler being cut off.

Ignore the dumbass laugh. Don't know what that's all about

You had headers on your car and so did your boys!!! You went 13.4@104 before the headers. Sorry but this guy isn't going be in the 12's with just a lid and flowmaster exhaust!! Throw some headers on there even without a tune I would agree. My car went 13.6@104mph stock with a lid and exhaust. Added headers, tune and a 3600 stall converter and the car went 12.60 @107mph.. Headers do make a difference on these cars..

Well, two of us did. The third guy snagged a 12.8 at 108 after adding headers. He's still getting 2.0 60s and I learned he's manually shifting his 4L60. There's no doubt mine would have done better in cooler weather with a better 60. I don't think a 13.3 was out of the question, possibly a 13.2. I was just too lazy to swap the good tires onto the back.

I won't bench race too much on what could've been, but I feel it had more in it.

That's with my old 2.73'd '98. His car has a few advantages over mine, like 3.42s, LS6 intake, 6-speed and better tires. If his is running right and he can cut a 1.8-1.9 60ft, I think a 12.9 is completely possible. Probably not likely, but I think the car could potentially pull those times.

And why wouldn't I brag about that? A full bolt on car with a stall converter and a tune going 12.60? Whats wrong with that? My car runs high 10's now on the motor and stock bottom end with no weight reduction.. I guess I can't brag about that either? Shut the hell up dude!!!!

What was your 60? That is a little slow for a bolt-on and stalled car, to be honest. I'd expect bottom 12s with a decent launch, unless it's 100 degrees out or you were at a high elevation. Not bashin', just going by what I've seen other cars do.

I'm hoping to hit a 12.6 with the 3.73s I just put in. We'll see if it happens on the 14th.

12.6 isn't slow for a bolton stalled auto full weight car at the track actually it's about average. My 60 was 1.68 if I remember correctly. I still even had the stock 3.23 gears in at the time.. If you put a stall in your car right now you would pick up about 5-tenths. So you would probably run a 12.4-12.6

DA of the track? Close to 0, with a good launch (DRs will help you), you can do it. Got to drive the **** out of, but you have enough mods too.

My full weight auto Z28 went 12.7 with just headers and a lid...2.73 gears. 11.93 with a stall, pulley and 3.73s. Changed to a heavy Moser 9", 6pt roll bar, 3.50s. Got a crappy launch, and still went 12.19.

..untuned.

But I agree with RaggedRides, maybe your track is horrible or something..

All m6s are 3.42s, unless you have a replacement rear from a auto. But +1 on driver mod needed.

Ever thought maybe you just had one of those faster cars? My buddies car was the same way at the track. He went 11.99 with bolt ons and a stall. He has H/C/I and his car is alot slower than mine now..

When my car was bone stock, down to the paper filter, I went 13.2 @ 106.

I think you can hit 12's if you get those nittos nice and sticky and don't care about blowin up your rear end.

Yes it is POSSIBLE, my friend went 12.9 at 108.99 with a 2.0 60ft in his 02 z28 stock except for lid and cut off muffler.

Quick Reply: Can I make high 12's?
