I am going tonight to a local track and it is a 1/8th and I was wanting to know what I would be close to running?

Oh I didn't see you were talking about 1/8th. Yea, somewhere in the 8's. I'd say 8.6 if the track is average. (most 1/8th miles I've been to do not prep)

8.5-8.8 depending on DA, unless you spin

i'd say 8.3 if you can hook...post your slip when you get a chance. my stock 99 ws6 pulled 8.5 @ 85 but had amazing traction, 1.9 60 ft on street tires

I dont think this track was prepped good because a lot of people were spinning, but I ran a 8.881 at 83.37 mph with a 2.2 60ft, I didn't do a burn out either I saw no point with street tires, I launched with my TCS on and it helped a lil bit

that 60ft is pretty bad, that's about how mine looks if I spin hard through 1st

next time do a burnout, but just enough to clean the tires...I hold mine at 4k for a couple seconds then let off the brake and run up to 5500 and let off until it hooks (all in 1st gear)

I seem to remember the consensus being traction control will hurt your times more than help them

Thats about what is expected. Don't feel bad, with a track that isn't prepped you can do everything right and still not get good times.

Yeahh but I cant do that with a auto, I was thinking drag radials would help atleast somee, I do also need a tune pretty bad I think

yeah do a burnout next time...it makes a huge difference with me. Idk if its the track or what but my tires get pretty sticky after a burnout. Rocks stick to my tires on the return road

why can't you do that with an auto? that's what mine is...

put the tranny in low, hold brakes, get rpms to 4k, nail throttle while letting off brakes, ease out of throttle as you approach starting line, put tranny in "drive", stage

this is assuming you are forced through the water box and wet section of the track

I thought you meanttt something totally different, but the waterbox is way behind the starting line so I guess I could just do a burnout with the water

If you have street tires do not get near the water box. Do a 5 second burnout then ride the burnout as far as you can without passing the line. If you have drag radials, each one is different with the type of burnout.

But if I have drag radials should I just stay away from the water box?

Drag radials I go around the water box (mainly because I have regular tires up front) back up into the water box. Spin the tires over once to get water over them then I pull up and do a John Force. Here is a video of what I do with DRs...

Sorry for the people talking and my g/f attempting to zoom end at the ending. lol

Nitto DRs need to get VERY hot to hook (long burnout like above)

MTs don't need near as much of a burnout

And IDK about Hoosiers or BFGs. I really wanna try out the Hoosier DRs though.

I do exactly what stopsign does and it works well. I do about a 5-6 second burnout on MT drag radials in 2nd gear
