I've had the chance to drive the new 5.0 6sp, 3.73 gears, california special a few times around town and run it down the track about 4 times. A buddy's dad works at ford and has one as his company ride.

We got to take it out to milan for an event 2 weeks ago where ford had the whole track rented out. My best time was a 13.8 at 107. We had a lot of trouble not getting the tires to spin off the line. My buddys dad's best was 13.6 at 106.

I will give the new mustang some credit.. this thing does rip pretty hard. But not every joe shmoe on any given day will be hitting mid 12's. That's just crazy.

Those are normal S197 times. You'd think a car that was similar in weight, and had 100 more could do a bit better.

Correct. Just like not ever Joe shmoe with a LS1 Fbody dips in the 13s. But those that do know what they are doing will have no problems with 12s.

I have very good judgment on those type of things. It is actually pretty obvious if you look at previous facts.

I love how people that have actually raced the car, or seen it raced, are being told their times are incorrect based on published magazine times. I know some will run faster and slower than others based on many factors, but if someone personally drives the car to a 13.8, how are you going to tell him that isn't right. He ran the damn time. Whether or not the car had more in it, that's what he ran.

I don't think anyone said it wasn't right. I am sure he got those times if he said he did. But those ARE stock S197 3v times.

Who gives a ****? you are contradicting yourself saying they need to stop boasting about the times at ATCO well you need to stop trying to compare everything to the times you saw at 3200ft!!!! Thats not normal and far from it.

Here is a guys car that I watched run last week at Edgewater Raceway. Only mods are Evolution tune and 4.10 gears. Automatic with a 28in tall tire which is actually a little tall and makes the gears more like 3.73's

I put a tune and cai runs 13.3's with the 331 gears auto of course.. don't wanna mess up the 24mpg gas milage with stall and 410's.It can easily be mid 12v's(still slow i know), thats how i know the new 5.0 will run way better than a 13.5. Im not gonna waiste my money on the new 5.0, i'll just wait until somebody totals their new 5.0 out and buy just the motor and tranny.It would make for a good sleeper! I had just bought the car for my wife when the vid was taken.

I was saying 3200ft as an indicator that the car should go a little quicker. At 1000ft the same car with the same driver did 13.2 @ 108.

And that link is a modded/tuned/geard auto on a slick with race gas. And before you say "torco isn't race gas" stop and think to yourself what adding torco does to 93 octane...

Ah okay...24mpg and running 13.3's is pretty damn good for a DD 3v

I'm sure the new 5.0's will be wrapped around poles soon enough

It's also pretty amusing that on the modular mustangs forum, in the 2011 Mustang subforum, literally 80% of the threads started are track times or performance package sales pitches by shops. The remaining 20% consist of people asking questions that don't get answered lol

Back to the threads original purpose, I saw a white 5.0 on the highway the other day but it was an older guy and he wouldn't even look over. I would love to run one though. Has anyone actually ran one? Besides that one video that was posted up.

was crusin next to one just the other day. black. guy gave me this just **** look. lol.
