This guy i work with has a newish style sti which has bored out and few other things. First time leaving work he floored it and me being about 20 yards behind couldnt catch up and was pushing about 95 in a 35. now just tonight i was sitting in my car letting it warm before i left when he launched his car from right behind me. i was coming to the light and making thr left around 55 trying to catch up when my car spun out and around. i am sooooo sick of losing to this guy. i have a 98 a4 with Lt, 3" y pipe, slp lm1 catback, and slp cai. im putting in a 10 bolt with 3.42 gears that i found used for dirt cheap. later i plan on doing a 383, hawks 450 top end kit, 3600 stall, and 12 bolt with 3.73. would this be enough after he ups his turbo or do i need to go F/I too?

I would think that a H/C/Stalled 383 should have no problem with that car. Depends on his setup and the year though. Make sure you have a good set of tires out back to put all that power down. If you realllllly want to make sure you beat him, throw a shot on top. 100-150 shot. I don't see him having a chance really at that point.

You gotta learn how to know when the car starts to break loose at the rear to slightly left off the gas and gain control again. It's just a matter of "feeling" the car start to break loose and correcting with the steering wheel. I found a big parking lot years ago and practiced going in circles trying to find the sweet spot when the car starts to slide out. Practice makes perfect.

Sorry to rain on the parade but let him be a ricer and take it to the track before someone gets hurts or killed. I am all for the increased power of the mods just don't ever forget "time and place".
