Guesses on what I might run?
Hey guys,
Was wondering what you guys think my 00 camaro ss will run judging by my "mods".
My only mods are, sparco carbon fiber seats and different wheels/tires (same width size as stock wheels.) Everything else is stock. Also is a stick "M6".
I do consider myself a decent driver, maybe good (in my mind .) I've had plenty of seat time considering it's my DD. This is my first time at the strip with me being the driver. Honestly, quite nervous being a noob and all. My father did take my car to the strip while I was at work. He maybe drove my car only 5 times total when he took my car so he wasn't used to it. He ran a 14.15 @ 100.5 with a lot of wheel spin (from what he said). He did mention that a car (honda civic) had a oil leak which covered the whole lane he was in. Took about a hour to clean up. Anyway idk if that would have much effect since it was "cleaned up"? He said his 60ft was like 2.4 or somewhere around that area. Don't have the slip, just the text message conversation.. Hell, even said it was hopping like the rear end was coming through the floor lol!
But me being a first timer I'm afraid to run a terrible time worse than that.
Considering my dad use to drag race his nova back in the day. So it has been almost a decade since he raced a v8 at the strip. You guys have any tips for me when I run as well? Could use any help lol. If I left out any info let me know. Sorry for the paragraph as well.

I'm hoping to at least hit 13's. lol I've researched our cars and was quite embarressed by what my car did . I am kinda hoping for low 13's. But I might be getting ahead of myself. Like I said I consider myself a decent/good driver. Idk considering I never ran a 1/4 mile. To me launching around 4x rpm seems reasonable with a little slipage. Than again idk the best way to launch our cars but it seems to **** and git when I do that! Lol I've had some practice from the street. Closed roads of course lol. I'll try from an idle and take your advice. Thanks! Hopefully all goes well. Still quite nervous to **** up in front of everyone. Lol including the other ls1's..

I know how you feel man, but we all start somewhere lol I was nervous my fist time as well, but it's really no big deal as you will see. Yeah i'd start just off idle basically, and build up from there and see what happens. When I was on street tires with my Mustang that seemed to work best for me

Nice! I just check the site. My local track opens this weekend as well, pretty early actually, 11am. Sadly I work.. But most days it's open is around 6pm for test and tune. I was hoping they would open earlier in the day so I can get some runs without running with the veterans. but looks like I don't have a choice.

Nice runs. Car sounded nice to. Traps were good too. I'll try 3x rpm and see how that works. I'm hoping to run better than 14's. lt1's around here run high 13's, some get closer to mid. Idk if they had mods, but I'm hoping to atleast beat a lt1. Hell maybe another ls1 heres hoping.
