Default head/cam ls2 guesses

LS2 shortblock 55k miles
799 heads, hand ported (final numbers not in but at least 280cfm...likely closer to 295cfm), milled .015" (estimated 11.2 compression)
Cam Motion 230/238 .620"/.602" 113+3
1 3/4" long tubes
3" duals with Flowtech Terminator chambered mufflers (dual cutouts which can be opened too)
Fast 90mm mild port
25% UDP

built 4l60e
Yank SS3600

3.5" steel driveshaft

12 bolt, eaton, 3.42 gears

17x9.5" wheels with 285/40r17 Nitto 555 street tires

For reference with the ls1, less head porting (no exhaust side at all), similar cam, and everything else the same it made 390rwhp unlocked and ran 11.67@115mph on a 1.7 60ft.

I'm hoping for at least 420rwhp but based on the few 243 head/cam ls2 builds I was able to quickly find I think it should honestly make more.

As soon as I get the heads back I'm putting it together and tuning it myself. Hopefully in the next week or so.

I think 420-430 rwhp sounds about right. What was your compression with the LS1?

Not 100% sure. Felpro stock thickness gaskets and the 799 heads were milled .010" on it. So figure a little over stock ls6 compression of 10.5:1

I would be beyond pleased with that.

Really ready to be able to drive it again. Been down since December.

Head guy texted me, he is up to 303cfm at .550" but then get some turbulence so he is doing some other changes and going to get a good valve job on them. He is hoping for 310cfm at .600" now.

Ended up with 306cfm @ .600"

I got the engine fired last night so it won't be long now. Sounds really good even on my old tune. Once it's on the road I can fine tune and my MAF readings should give me a little insight into what it picked up.

I'm pleased with them...I traded some labor with him so he did the porting, surfacing, and valvejob for $200. For that price I wouldn't care if they flowed 280.

Not bad at all...my TEA LS6 243's flowed 312 @ .600. I say you got your monies worth and some!

I am guessing 430/410.

Got it wrapped up and the tune dialed in as much as I can without hitting the track or dyno.

The car pulls really freaking hard and would pull all the way to 7000. I'm going to try a 6800 shift point and see how that works first.

It's hit 50lb/min on the MAF several times. When it was running good before I think it was hanging around 46-47lb min.

Seems like it should be in the 425rwhp range unlocked. The big shocker is the torque. It drives like a big block with instant off idle snap.

If I can get it strapped down I will report back otherwise I'll update once I get some trap speeds.

Went to a dyno day yesterday on the same dyno.

Made 418rwhp and 372 rwtq converter unlocked. Torque "curve" is more of a flat line though haha, never made under 350 ft/lbs during the run.

I calculate my converter slip at over 6%, so it should have been around 445/395 locked. I'm pleased with that.

I had 27.5* timing in it, but my wideband is apparently trashed from some fuel system cleaner I ran through...on wot it reads around 66:1 afr and 18-20:1 at idle. So I need to fix that then do some 3rd gear pulls to see if there might be more in it.

Same here, it was a charity event for a little girl with cancer and someone's car broke so I filled in his spot and pitched in a little more donation.

I think it will be a little faster at the track than even the HP increase shows because of the extra torque and average torque.

Should run ~11.20s on one of the days we get ~1000ft air I think.
