2000 Trans AM WS6
stock engine and camshaft, with LS6 intake.
A4 with shift kit and stock stall
Ebay 1 3/4" LT's with ORY, with Borla Exhaust
3.73 posi 10 bolt with stock axles, and BMR LCA's.
ported Throttle body, and Throttle valve, and Suncoast hood & Suncoast "Ram Air" box, and Reusable filter. Fresh plugs, wires, and OE injectors cleaned and flow tested. Racetronix fuel pump with upgraded harness (factory pump died)
New Nitto NT05R 315 Drag Radials. 3760 lbs with driver.
Mail order tune from 10 years ago.
I am hoping to break into the 12's... will she do it with a stock converter?
I will be running in San Antonio Sunday, (its supposed to be sunny, around 60 degrees, and 775 ft above sea level)
What is your prediction that it will run (1/4 mile ET)? (I will post results Sunday)

I would be thrilled if it broke into the 12's.
I am thinking a stall converter is next. I don't really want to do a Cam or heads, but I may do the 1.85 rockers.

I was originally a 2.73 car. Went 13.2@107mph with Lt's, radials and tune. Then added 3.73's but never ran it after the gear change. Then added a yank ss3600.
So with 3.73's, Mt et streets, ss3600, Lt's I went
12.3@110 mph
60' 1.74

I was asking about Mods for a faster ET.
I want a stock sounding idle (I like sleepers).. And I don't want to change cam or heads..
I am thinking:
Yank ss3600
1.85 slp rockers
RElocation brkts on RLCA
And maybe a truck coil upgrade
Subframe connectors...
What do you think?

It ran a best of ET 13.03 with a 1.998 60 foot.
Not quite the 12's I wanted but not too bad.
First run 13.17 while spinning off the line (I tried a dry burnout first, which didn't Heat the tires enough).
Then 13.11, 13.10..
Then last run of 13.03.
Incidentally, I broke my stock posi unit on the last run and now its a one legger.
Time to figure out what to do about a rear axle assy that will last.
I think it also needs a good dyno tune, as I am getting some backfires in the exh during deceleration-- so I'm thinking it's running rich.
What's the cheapest way to get a "bolt in" 8.8, or 9", or 12 bolt rear axle?

Lots of guys going with the 8.8s lately, though if you stay away from doing it yourself it's no cheaper than a 12 bolt.
Anything beside that junk 7.625 ring gear 10 bolt works well. S60 goes for as low as around $2100 (same with strange 12 bolt) 9 inch is pricey but if you're getting super wild will pay for itself.
I also advise not to go with those 1.85 rockers.
By the time you do the shitty part (valve springs) you'll wish you would've picked up a cam. There's a few companies making sleeper cams that work well.
I've had a set of 1.85 rockers sitting on a shelf that my pops actually gave me for Christmas a few years ago now, and they'll never be used.

It turns out I did more damage to the stock rear than just a posi unit.. It now has excessive slack between the R&P gears as well. I didn't rxpect it to last forever, but my first trip to the strip with a stock engine, stock stall, etc was sooner than expected.
I will be into the 8.8 cheap...I have a trade deal working.
Thanks for the advice on the 1.85's I will consider that.
Is it really "that hard" to swap the valve springs on these?
