Default What shop is familiar with beefing up t56's in the Tampa area?

Need a rebuild bad and trying to do some pricing around, any experienced t56 shops out there that will be familiar with what I need? i.e viper output shaft, carbon fiber syncros, steel 3-4 fork etc?

Also any of you guys actually go to any of these places and feel comfortable with them?

Thanks guys I'll call Felber now, isn't D and D in Michigan though? Would prefer to keep it local if possible.

Just left Felber a message, is it a shop or a person? Answering machine was just the robot lady.

Mike,

I use a Mustang shop locally for my builds. He is excellent, an ex Ford dealer tech and knows his way through a T56. He has done literally hundreds of T5's in the Mustangs and prefers doing the T56's and does several Viper trans's also. he is maybe an hour from you.

Pretty much may want to check out reputable Mustang shops and get referals for them, maybe something good will pop up. People used to talk about ramseys shop over in the Tamapa area, but I have no idea if they can do it or are good. Hope this helps.

I'm pretty sure Mike is referring to Lamotta Performance in Longwood. They did my T56 and clutch install a few months ago and I've had no issues. I want to say they get their parts from D & D as well. Not sure though.

We do it... in fact, we just did one a couple of months ago on a D1SC Procharged LS6, in a 2002 WS6... it's holding up to over 760 hp without a problem. Granted it adds 18lbs of rotating mass to the tranny, it's well worth it.

i'm completly confused on where to go, and what i need for my rebuild... mainly because i need something cheap, but something works...it would also help if it weren't 100 miles away...however, if it's good and price is right that is where i'll go

cheap and performance dont go well together 777. go with a shop you feel comfortable with. keeping it "local" is almost impossible since you live out in ocala.

I just stopped by the shop Mike was talking about (not sure if I can give mention their name since they're not a sponser) and their labor charges seemed fair... 250 to pull 250 to rebuild.. buy the parts and take it in and get in done in a couple days.
