Or paint the firehawk black, be way cheaper than buying a new truck

Your kids are growing up fast. Big difference since "Pinks"....which was a big difference from Commerce.

Depends, should be running by next weekend, I think I have everything here but I could be wrong. Have to make an exhaust, make some O2 extensions and extend the MAF wires a bit, underhood fuel lines and trans cooler lines.

Glad to hear you are keeping thr Hawk KP. Shoot me a PM when you bring it to Beech Bend. I always like to watch everyone's face when a low 9 second LS1 makes a pass.

Cool, good luck with it! Are you going to keep it on a MAF tune or go SD later?

I'll start it on the MAF tune thats in it and 42lb injectors it cane with, then switch it to 60lb injectors. Since its mostly a drag car I could just leave the MAF tune in it but I'll probably OLSD tune it to get rid of the O2s somewhere along the way. I ran my 98 both ways and honestly it ran more consistant with the MAF and PE then it did with a HPT 2 bar SD. I'm hoping the 99+ EFIlive COS 2-3 bar works better, give me something to play with anyhow..

Cool, sounds like a plan. Did you tune your 98?

Yes, I do everything on the car except the engine machine work/shortblock assembly. Not that I couldnt if I wanted to but I don access to a machine shop here, and I havent found a local machine shop that will do things the way I want. I dont like having engine issues so sometimes its easier to just pay the best to handle it and not lose sleep over it.

As far as the rest of it. I dont think anyone else cant do it, I can just afford way nicer parts if I dont have to pay someone else to put them on

Thats the way I fell about it. I'm trying to learn how to tune, I feel I have the basics down, but there is sooooo much to learn. Car looks great BTW.

Moving along pretty good in the last two days. Checked the cam quick, made a timing pointer and marked TDC on the balancer in case I decide to swap to a BS3 again in the future.

Other than that pretty much just bolt things together, I already had all the covers, oil pan etc cleaned and ready to go so it went together quick. Made sure I fit the trans blanket before I put the engine and trans in this time, royal PITA doing it on the car. Figured I'd take a couple pics while everything is new - wont stay looking like that for long. Underside is done except for a couple little things, tomorrow I'll hang the blower on finally and finish up under the hood.

Something like that, taking a break for a couple days though, its almost ready to go but I'm getting a little burned out so I'm spending some time with the kids on their spring break. I'll be back on it next week when they are in school...
