Then he welded some caps that come out a little forward for the new support. Again, the rusty bar is just a wedge.

Different angle after the support was welded on and painted.
There are 2 small brackets (one on each side) which I believe have those 2 studs sticking out of them. Those would bolt to the sides of the radiator supports normally and the bolts go all the way thru and out the other side. We ended up welding those brackets on and not dealing with the bolts. It's tight in there. The grinder will become your friend. A portable band saw is nice for much of this and a plasma cutter would come in handy sometimes also.

I've coasted thru the traps at 135 mph because I am blowing thru the converter and hitting the limiter by 1200' or so. At a race weight of 3650# with 1/2 tank of gas, puts me well over the 650 rwhp mark according to the calculators. I do my testing and tuning on the street and the track. Haven't been on a dyno in a couple years.

I had a friend get it. He is a parts guy at a dealership. I believe that they come on the Cobalt SS also.

Waiting on a friend to return the tranny jack so that I can ship off the converter. My work has slowed down alot so I haven't had the coin to finish up my to-do list. It's also looking like I will need to either sell/swap my rear end for a 9". Closest ratio I can go with the S60 appears to be a 3.54. I think that I will need something more like a 3.23. I've been told that I can have a custom gear cut but then what happens if the rear screams and howls like a banshee?

The question is how fast do you really want to go? I'm kind of in the same zip code that you are going to be in when you get a chace to turn it up a bit. I run a 3.5 gear in my 9" rear end with the MT 325/50/15 DRs right now at 149mph in the 1/4. I'd like to keep it under 7K rpm because of where my cam is making power. So I'm on the verge of the gear change for that reason as i turn up the power.
The PT88 can easily get you into the 145-155mph range on your combo.
So if you tighten up the converter to 3400-3600 rpm range you can still make some nice 148-152 mph passes and keep under 7200 rpm on a 28" tall tire with the 3.54 gear.
Then when you have some spare coin, you can look at a custom gear for the S60 or the 9" with a 3-3.2x gear. The point is get her out and enjoy her this summer before you tweak it for the final big run of the season.

To do list:
1) Restall the converter. Needs to be tightened up over 1K RPM.
2) AMS1000 boost controller with CO2
3) Gear/Rear swap
4) Forged pistons and rods/Cam/AFR225's

shame you cant just lock up the converter. i cant see puttin ford parts on my chevy. so ill try to make a 8.5 live with 3.42s and 30" tires. if that fails its a 60 for sure
