I don't think the 9" is much lighter. The housing is over 70lbs, the center section is 78lbs plus the axles, not too much weight savings. I'd consider getting a custom gear since you already have the rear. Unless you are able to swap with someone local.

You have a pretty good to do list. I thought you were shifting at a low rpm? BTW, who built your th400?

How do you figure that it's easier?

Which exhaust manifold was I going to put it under to super heat my fuel?

The Meth is the very last step once get everything else done. I'm not trying to squeeze every last ounce of power out this stock LQ9. I need it to live until I have the money to rebuild it.

It weighs 25# more than a 12 bolt and 14# more than a normal 9" (not aluminum).

Couple of new developments. First the good news. I finally got my converter out this afternoon and shipped back to FTI. I think that I need it way tighter. I'm thinking somethng like 1000-1200 RPM tighter as it's currently setup for my old setup (408ci+380 shot). Right now it doesn't start making boost until almost 4K RPM as there is no significant load down there.

And now on to the bad news. The movement of the motor is causing the Turbo heatshield to rub against the radiator ever so slightly which seems to have caused a leak. I need to get a little more clearance in there. Unfornutately, tough times mean I gotta try to fix the radiator.

Because it has high 9 sec performance capability but rides and idles like stock. I don't want to feel the motor that much. I have all poly mounts. Just need to make a little more space but for now I can trim that ghetto shield I got on there.

FWIW, my brother had a SS with ploy mounts and I have solid mounts in mine and you could tell NO difference in NVH between the cars. His would rock "slightly" when you wrapped the throttle from under the hood, mine would just rock the car.

Hmmmm, I've been in cars with solid mounts and I could tell. I'm sure that I will go solid eventually but that will with a plate.

Spoke to Greg @ FTI this afternoon about the converter. He asked me some questions and told me he knew what I needed. Cant wait to try it out. Seems like every mod that I been doing since building this turbo has made the car more and more streetable (except for removing the A/C). It was 100* here yesterday and 110* with the heat index. I'm regretting having removed my A/C.

It has been brutally hot recently. We had 98 in the shade Sunday. That is the exact reason removing my ac isn't an option for any of my cars. Also the reason a set of C6 manifolds are on their way to my house now.

Got the converter back yesterday (from getting tightened up) and put it in. I also pulled out the radiator and epoxy'd the hole that the turbo shield rubbed in it. It worked to my surprise. Also removed that shitty shield that was giving me the clearance troubles.

While I had use of the lift, I decided that it would be the perfect time to change the oil. As stated in a previous post, I used 5-30 Mobil one on my last oil change and the turbo would smoke a little when I came to a stop. I switched it to the 15-40 Delvac 1300. Some nice diesel oil. Well, when I pulled the drain plug, the cam dowel was stuck to the magnetic tip of the plug. I remember seeing another thread here just recently that had the same thing happen to their high performance stock bottom end. Fortunately, right before I threw this bottom end in, I pulled the front cover and checked to see if the cam was stock (was supposedly a Z06 cam) but it was just the stock cam. I made sure to use red loctite on the cam sprocket when I put it back together. And since the cam sprocket wasn't of the adjustable nature (slotted holes), I think it should be OK for now. Worst case scenerio it will bend up the valves and beat up the pistons. I had no intentions of reusing either for the forged build.

Of greatest concern to me right now is that I am only seeing about 7-8 psi of boost whereas I was at about 15 psi before I took the transmission out. I may had accidentally bumped the manual (Home Depot) boost valve while I was under the car. If I have a leak, what's the trick to finding it?

And last but not least I need that stupid little tube for filling the trans with a Lokar dipstick. I'm about a quart low and I can't find mine.

Thanks for the offer but there are atleast 5 of those things floating around up here. I know I can get one for sure tomorrow night when my buddy with the shop gets home. He left it locked in the box on the trailer. Didn't leave that set of keys. DOH!
