Looking for a streetable clutch to handle 800rwtq
My SPEC Stage 4 went out after 250 miles (after 750 break-in miles). I need something that can hold 800rwtq and drive well in rush hour traffic. If something like that even exists, lol.
I'm looking very hard at the Mcleod twin-disc RST and RXT because everything I read says they drive just like stock; great for daily driving with no chatter and a light pedal feel (sounds too good to be true). Only problem is I can't find anyone over 450rwhp who has one. The RST is rated for 800hp and the RXT is rated for 1000hp. I'm looking at the RXT since I'm pretty sure those are flywheel ratings and I want some cushion. It's cheaper than most twins at $1000 but that doesn't include anything except for the basics: pressure plate, discs, and floater. I already have a SPEC billet steel flywheel, upgraded slave and Mcleod adjustable master cylinder.
Let me know what you have, what kind of power you're making, how long you've had it and what you think about it.

I heard great things about the spec twins. My tex twin is not bad but some things don't like.It had floater rattle whenever you push in the clutch. That annoys me a lot.
It is pretty streetable decent pedal pressure. I might have went to tex triple but they are huge money. If was sticking with stick which am not whould have tried spec twin thing next but the mcleod would be option as well. Not sure if they don't require adjustable master anymore they used to and that was pain that thing was not that reliable had problems with them in the past.
I would for sure get the highest rated mcleod if guys say they are good and driveable.
And if the mcleod has no floater rattle even better yet.

Textrailia quit selling the twins from what I was told it was either a single disc or the triple disc. I have the triples in both my cars and well they drive fantastic and hold very well and they use a modified stock GM slave that works great light pedal feel. They are pricey so all I can say is you get what you pay for. Although MM brought up a good point I never had any real issues with my spec 5 very good cluch, but couldn't power shift with it but other than that it held and lasted very good. GL!

I'll bet you're right, we've used Spec Stage 3+ clutches on many, many builds and haven't had any problems with them. Bob

I love the spec 3. Great peddle feel and smooth shifts. It's been holding 750+ torque thus far, but that's on the dyno only. switching to a tex triple after we're done with tuning.

i only have one thing to say textrilian with a tick master cylinder, it engages like a stock clutch and i have never sliped it even with a 3800 pound car and 6800 rpm riding the clutch off the line with a 350 gear on the juice and i have made passes back to back to back looked like dirt track..lol

I went from a Spec 3+ to a Mcloed Street twin and it is no contest. The Street twin is awesome. On break in there was little to no chatter. I also install a Mcloed master with it.

I checked the Master Cylinder and it had play when released. It didn't feel loaded. Is there something else I can check?
I drove the car 500 miles or so around town to break it in, 250 highway miles to a dyno session, 250 miles back home, and 200 miles around town when it went out completely. The clutch would slip just driving around normal. Forget accelerating to change lanes, I couldn't even keep up with traffic!
Do you think the SPEC 4 should be able to hold that power level? I did call SPEC and they said it was only rated for 680flywheel hp and I probably glazed it over on the dyno. My buddy thinks it might have happened due to dynoing the car from too low of an rpm and putting too much of a load on it. SPEC was nice and offered to help me but I am way past my 90day return policy regardless of the miles. It sat in my garage for a year before I even installed it.
I'm definitely not glad it went out but I didn't really like that clutch anyway. The pedal was kind of heavy and it chattered pretty bad. I'm sure 3.42 gears don't help. I love the idea of a stock-like clutch. If I'm the only person who can stand to drive it, it's not streetable. The RXT sounds like my mom could drive it to the grocery store Plus, I'm looking at getting a methanol kit now. Looking to make 700+rwhp and 800+rwtq, so I'll need something a bit stronger. If the RXT is rated at 1000 flywheel hp conservatively, it should be able to hold my future goals don't you think?
Anyone know if I can use my SPEC billet steel flywheel?

What kind of power are you making? How many miles? Track? Do you slip the clutch? Chatter? Seems like no one really has anything consistent to say about SPEC. Some love it, some hate it. I know your results has a lot to do with your driving style, hydraulics and break-in.

SStolen, I don't mean to highjack but was wondering at these power levels if anyone has tried out the Level 5 Monster Clutch?
