I picked up a used LS7 dry sump pan, oil pump and front cover. Kurt Urban has converted a number of F-bodies to the LS7 dry sump

The ERL sleeved blocks are stronger and lighter than the 6.0 blocks. Plus I have a 4.125 bore with the ability to go to 4.185. Go to ERL's website they are a site sponsor.

But isn't that a 5.3L iron sleeved by ERL? If yes, would starting with 6.0L and sleeving it by ERL give any advantage?

The block is aluminum. Once ERL does the upgrades like Ray has the parent block starting life as a 6.0 or 5.3 does not matter. The stealth of the 5.3 could be an advantage as you could claim it's "just a little 5.3" when picking a lane with your buddies!

So is that a new truck block that you used? I didn't know they switched to alum in the 5.3's. I'm assuming that you went with that block because it was the least money and like it was stated before it didn't matter what block ERL used.

Yes it is a new block aluminum block. I picked up the 5.3 for half what a new 6.0 would have cost me. One more radiator line to figure out and it is ready to start

The aluminum 5.3's came in the SSR pickups, and some Monte Carlo SS's I think? I think I might be wrong about the monte's tho..

Awesome Ray, now let's see that 8 second pass ! Just curious, how are you going to "break in" that particular engine ?

You can see the fix for the radiator nozzle hitting the crossover pipe.

Crisp, really sounds and feels great. I have to get the VE table dialed in but I think I will hit the track tuesday. I have tickets to the NHRA nationals at Norwalk this weekend or I would take it out then. May try and hit the dyno for a short session. I need to shake it out fast so I can make the Milan race on the 10th
