CAN I BOOST MY 11.5 to 1
i have a forged 408 with 11.5 to 1 compression. trickflow heads, nitrous cam etc.. i took my nitrous off.
my engine builder said i can go to a procharger d1sc kit. and run low boost around 4-5 psi on pump gas.
the car made 500 rwhp on 93 octane.
do you guys think i can do this or what? i'm hoping he's right cause i'm right in line for this kit!!!!
he said even with low boost i should pick up a VERY good amount of power.
i really don't want to run meth, i just don't like having to rely on it..

I would not recommend it, but it's doable with a good tuner. You will be running very low timing and on the edge if you are going to try and run 93 octane.
I would suggest running meth or running higher octane all the time. One bad tank of gas could cost you a ton of money.

I doubt you could pull off 5 psi on 93 octane. Maybe with meth, if you want to run that. That being said, I bet that thing would still haul *** on a 3 psi setup, probably 650 RWHP. You could just get some new heads to lower compression and use thicker head gaskets to help.

Check out what we did with 11.0/1 with a turbo at this link.

705 rwhp/758 ft lbs torque on 93 octane with no octane booster, with methanol injection and 11.0/1 compression ratio on an eighty degree day!
Generally, a ProCharger will take higher compression better than a turbo, so I don't think you'll encounter problems. Bob

i've heard all different stories.. from don't do it.... to you can but keep the boost low.. to i can run up to 10lbs safely.
i don't plan on running meth.. and i'm gonna be on 93 octane,.

can you port the head and lower the CR by means of larger combustion chambers?
I ran 5psi with 427 11:1 CR no problems, car made 615rwhp with stock z06 cam, just headers.

yeas it can be done but with a VERY good tune and VERY low boost. this sounds like an expensive motor so why not run meth ? cheap insurance no ? also i would seriously consider getting heads with bigger combustion chamber 72cc or i think AFR has 76 cc heads.
i have 8.6:1 cr for my turbo build.

i was thinking the same, that would be a sweet setup. high compression boosted e85. the highger octane fuel would help it stay out of detonation, and give the long burn needed. and then add methanol for added insurance and that ought to be a mean setup.

E85 is equivalent to 105 to 108 octane, so if you could run with race fuel with this rating you should be good. It also is a cool fuel to the touch when compared to gasoline which helps keeps the combustion cool. Beware though e85 has a faster burn than gas and is the reason AFRs need adjustment.

with e85 you'll need roughly 30% more fuel than with gas so 120lb injectors would be good depending on boost level with meth you could probably squeeze 10-15lbs out of it or so and that would probably get you a good amount of power
