Default Planning a big turbo build....

I have 2 decent 62mm turbos laying around the shop, and all of the wastegates, bovs, intercooling, to go with them... as well as a foxbody with a th400, 8point cage, ford 9 with moser's, etc...

I am just looking to fill in the last blank, and that is deciding what motor to run... Is there a "proven" stock shortblock (ls1/ls2/ls6/LQx/L9x) and stock/reasonably priced head combo out there that will handle 110+lb/m worth of mass flow? If not what is the best block to base a mild build off of that is not a LSX/aftermarket block?

If I don't find a LSx that I like, I may end up sticking another 3800 v6 with a stock shortblock and stock heads, so give me some ideas here... This is also not my first walk in the park with turbo lsx setups (or turbo setups in general) either so if my goals sound outrageous it is most likely due to the fact I dont know much about what the limits of the LSx platform are.

LQ9 heads and iron block will work.

idk how you could even consider going twin turbo 3800 over a twin lsx setup. people make alot of power on stock 6.0 lq9 longblocks with 317 heads to keep compression where you want it. just put a turbo cam in it and if you decide to up the boost later then you can go with a forged roating assembly to handle more. the 408 is pretty common

Well, multiple people have made well over 500 hp with stock shortblock (a few with stock heads) on their 3800. Also, a new longblock is like 250 bucks lol. Dark ran 11's for like a grand in his... but a TT iron block 6.0 would be ****.

The LQ9 looks pretty darn cheap.. I can get a few in town for sub $1k with moderate mileage.

What is the deal with the 317 heads? What are they off of? What is the final compression ratio with them on a LQ9 block?

Will the LQ9 tolerate a few 800+whp pulls?

317 heads are comes on the trucks LQ9,LQ4. they lower compression and most guys who uses stock heads use them for boost.the Lq9 with good internals will handle over 1k

It got killed from being STOCK with no upgrades and boosting in the 15lb+ range

If you could get the LQ9 block and forge it and use the 317 heads with a good intake it would hold a ton of power.
