got the hot side all welded up...unfortunately I gotta redo the passenger side header connection...stainless pulls like a b*tch when welded. the leg is now too short to mate with the header
took almost my whole bottle of argon to weld...back purging sure sucks some gas

Percy's drop-in windshield showed up...fits awesome...
Started laying out the rest of the plumbing....Looks like I'll be trying to split the downpipe into dual 4" tubes and run them to the fenders, just behind the front tires...
that hood is taller than I thought...mocked up the intake and elbow and it has about 3" to spare so I'm going to try spacing the elbow up with a 2" carb spacer to help air distribution in the motor...
guess its time to order the rad/fan assy so I can start laying everything out for good

yeah...slowly but surely. I'm hoping to get the major fab work done by August so I can get it painted and start the painful process of assembling, wiring, plumbing, etc.

got my radiator yesterday...though my original layout would work...it would make it nearly impossible to split the downpipe into dual exhaust....so I started playing around with ideas...I think I'm leaning toward this...laying the radiator horizontal (next to the turbo and moving the fuel cell to the other side of the cross bar. this isn't the final locations...I need to trim the fog light opening back so I can move the rad forward more.

The fuel cell to me, is a little closer to the hot exhaust then I'd like it... other then that it looks good to me.
I'm curious, once you lay the radiator down like that how do you fill it, and where does the overflow go? Never really asked anyone that, but I've seen the radiator layed down like that in a couple cars, navy david's car is like that.

radiator doesn't have a rad cap...I'll be adding a separate expansion tank that has the rad cap. then run a line from the expansion tank to the overflow.
Just playing around with ideas right now. Problem is I want to weld two 4" bends together (making a 5" into dual 4" transition) off the turbo then run a pair of 4" exhaust pipes to either side of the car (thru the fenders). Getting the room to do that is the issue

Please excuse my lack of knowledge here... laying the radiator down is getting to be more commonplace from the pictures I've seen... just not something I have ever dealt with.
So you lay down the radiator, then put a line off it to an expansion tank, which I assume, is the point where the coolant is filled, also has to be as high as the motor yes? Then an overflow tank off of that?
If so then I think I understand how it will work. Radiator cap on the expansion tank that will release added pressure to the overflow, which you can put wherever (I put them in the back of cars, so that way if it does overflow it won't hit the tires)
If you wanted to just put a small standup radiator in a car with a remote pump, and say the radiator will be really short (so you can stuff it up in the nose/under the headlight cover on one side, and angle it more then 45 degrees, almost sideways) will the expansion tank still be needed, or can it just work like a regular radiator?

expansion tanks are good idea on high hp stuff since it gives a place for water to go if pressurized (that will return to the system when needed).
expansion tank is an enclosed vessel that has a large line on the bottom that goes to the radiator. ON a LS motor, you typically would run the return line from the heads to the side of the expansion tank. there is a rad cap on top of the tank. when the rad cap opens due to pressure, the pressure is pushed into an overflow tank...just like the stock rad does.
