If the piston isn't hot I don't think the xray would show the cracks.. coating or not. You'd have to expand them to see it most likly....
Brian just take your time with the rebuild.. you'll get it done and it will be a solid, badass piece when it's back together for sure.

I know this is bad to say, because I know some **** can happen, but so long as I bring the car down safely and don't damage anything, I have a lot of fun when she does a nasty wheelstand! And the look on everyone's face when you come back and just had the car almost on the bumper and brought it down smooth and still ran out a good pass and smoked the guy next to you is priceless!!! Now don't get me wrong, I don't try to do it, it just happens sometimes and luckily enough I have enough seat time that i've learned how to control them and bring her down pretty smooth.
