I am so tempted just to sell off everything as a package...
I put together a list in my head last night and realized I would be crazy to sell it all for what I was originally asking.

I think I've rationalized this....Just gonna have to let it sit....maybe I'll have a running car next year. Getting the block fixed is going to be the biggest hurdle anyhow. Even if I was ready to go all out...we're probably looking at 4+ months to get custom sleeves made. This alone pretty much kills any chance of racing this year anyway (money or no money)...I figure getting shawn to fix the block (at least get the parts to do so) is the logical thing to do now due to lead time.
What really sucks is I really have nothing to do to the car from now until then At least I was super busy working on it all this past year and a half

I blew my 4l60e over and over again, after the 3rd time i just towed the **** home, stuffed it in the garage and didnt even unlock the door for several months, it helped me big time. I was really upset at having smoked a built tranny for the 3rd time in a row and then having put almost 8k into a 1700 dollar hunk of junk.
take a little time off from it and get your mind right
question, why exactly does it need custom sleeves? the work I do basically prooves to me on a daily basis that anything really is possible, maybe a different perspective could offer a cheaper and more viable (and hopefully quicker) fix. Ill run it by our welding engineer if i have to

we have to do considerable welding to the base of the bores around cyl 1 & 2. this will put considerable heat into the block that can make things go out of round. We'll need to clean up the base holes therefore we need a sleeve with a bigger OD. RHS doesn't offer one. Most other aluminum block manufacturers offer sleeves like this for this exact reason.
we already plan on having to line bore the mains and cam bore for this same reason.

gimme all the info you can on the type of aluminum it is and the processes its undergone, the kind of welding you need is what I do everyday although its always various steels and harder alloys. we also do our own heat treating and stress relieving to all that expertise is in house, Im going to have a little chat with a co-worker......

gimme all the info you can on the type of aluminum it is and the processes its undergone, the kind of welding you need is what I do everyday although its always various steels and harder alloys. we also do our own heat treating and stress relieving to all that expertise is in house, Im going to have a little chat with a co-worker......
problem is the tight tolerances required when sleeving. even moving .001" is bad. Aluminum just conducts heat so bad...
getting a "custom" sleeve isn't adding much to the cost...maybe $200. I have nothing but time at this point. Biggest issue is the detonation caused damage to pistons 1 and 2 and we just don't have the confidence in running the other 6...the coating on them more than likely can be hiding microcracking. Aluminum is such a funny metal...therefore we need 8 new pistons which is the major cost driver here...
I did the math...the engine saw the super lean + super high timing conditions for 12 engine rotations....that means each piston detonated 6 times
