I have just a stock SS woith bolt ons and I want to get a procharger with intercooler setup over the winter. How much boost can I run safely and will my motor stand up to that punishment ok. The car is not a drag car but will see the track a few times in the summer, so its mostly street fun. Thanks everyone

With what you have i would get the D1-SC w/ a 3.2" blower pulley. I have what you have the only addition is that i have a small cam. 212/218. I saw only 4 psi w/ the 4" blower pulley, and i saw 7 psi w/ the 3.2" pulley. I was seeing slip so i changed out to the MMS 7.85" crank pulley and went back to the 4" blower pulley and i was seeing 11 psi. Will the motor hold up??? I would say yeah if you get ti tuned right. I had the car tuned by MTI when i was only seeing 4 psi and i never went back when i was seeing 11 psi and now i am rebuilding the motor so tuning is very important and so is fuel.

I have a P1SC with a 3.2" Dseries pulley. I have 40K miles on the car with the blower on it. I'm still running stock programming with an aftermarket FMU boosting the FP up(I know I know, hopefully I can get the programming/injectors in soon, its really holding the car back). I know you will not have a problem with it. Just make sure whoever does your tune does a good job.

Dynoed the first time with 4 psi and i saw 378rwhp and 417 rwtq and then i moved up to the 3.2" pulley and never redynoed(should of) Then i bought the MMS crank pulley and put the 4" blower pulley back on and i saw 11 psi. Ran a 11.51@123 like that with drag radials and a 1.82 sixty foot. Bouncing off the rev lim too. Get tuning man and dont get greedy with the boost cause its only a pulley change away.

You can safely run up to about 8# of boost with your stock bottom end. Going with the D-1SC and the stock pulley should give you about 7# with your current mods. Some people have run more boost with the ATI and stock bottom end but by doing that your chances of something happening are greater. This system is good for a 140+hp increase. This should get you to the 450-460 rwhp range depending on what your car dynoed stock.

I have a 98 SS A4 with hooker headers and Magnaflow catback.
D1SC with a 3.6 inch pulley (I think a 4 inch pulley was stock, I sent it back to ATI for the 3.6 before install).
8 PSI boost at 6200 RPM. I have had no slippage problems at all.
11.57 @ 119 MPH. (Car hit the rev limiter on the 1-2 shift on this run) No dyno numbers yet.
Best before SC 12.6 @ 108.
I do have a pretty large stall torque converter as well.

Wouldn't you say that's a bit OVERKILL for 6lbs?? I've heard of 11.5 as being Extremely Safe but 11.1?? Just for comparison I'm running 12.1 Not sure if you have access to 93 Octane though.. Maybe your limited to 91?

Thats on a dynojet wideband, my in-car wideband will always read a bit leaner (~11.5-11.7 or so) but I still need to fine tune this a bit more - it was just a quick tune before I pulled the trans out. It wont pick up that much at 11.5-12:1, maybe 10rwhp or so, I've tuned a few of these. The car also has near stock timing, if you use vortech's tune they pull a bunch of timing and you can get them pretty lean w/o detonation..

My recently acquired '02 Z28 has the D-1SC twin intercooled setup. Power-mod wise I have FLP long tubes, FLP Y, FLP "test pipes" (no cats), Magnaflow cat-back but with a Spintech muffler. I also have the BBK TB. Otherwise the motor is stock.
It laid down 479 RWHP at Force Fed Performance on a very conservative Ed Wright tune for California 91 Octane with A/F's around 11.2
I have an Autometer boost gauge and car seems to be hitting 7.5 to 8 psi and even spiked on one "pass" to 8.5 psi. This was on a late-night "back road" test session with a buddy watching the boost gauge and me keeping a lookout for deer as I drove.
Took it to the track a couple weeks ago: 11.71 @121 hitting the rev limiter in 4th every pass about the 1100 ft. mark. With a slight bump from stock rev limiter, car will run 11.5's with ease.

TWS, you have the same bolt ons as me. That car of yours sure does make some nice power.
---- Do the D1SC kits come with the twin after coolers and the 3.22 pulley? Also, if I buy used and get a re-build kit what should I look for?

Joe,
my kit came with the 3.6" pulley. I did not build the car, a shop in Redondo Beach, CA did. However, I can try to talk knowledgably about it.
For mods to your setup, I would consult with Keith at Force Fed Performance in Yuva City, CA. 530-755-0337.
BTW, forgot to mention I have 4.10's in the Moser 12-bolt they installed. That's why I'm hitting the stock rev limiter (6200) before the traps. The car climbs in revs and pulls like crazy with the combo of blower and gears. I have to shift my *** off going down the track. First run was only a 12.04 as I hit the rev limiter in EVERY gear before I realized that I need to shift much quicker.
