Its been a while since I've updated this thread. A lot has happened since we got the car running and it was all positive until we had a problem with ignition set up. The end result was an extreme timing condition that "crushed" 3 pistons, #2, #5, and #7. Drag Racing is truly the highest of the highs and lowest of the lows. We made 4 test passes on the car with the first 2 passes just a couple short hits to the 330' mark. Everything looked great so we made 2 more hits to the 660' mark and the car picked up each pass. Satisfied we loaded the car up and rented the track out 2 weeks later to get it ready for SCSN in Las Vegas. At the track rental is when things went wrong but the bright side is we learned what happened and believe we corrected the problem.

While in the mist of all this we are making some improvements as I can never leave well enough alone. We wanted to make the best of things and turn a "negative" into a positive situation so... We are replacing the LSX iron block with a RHS block. Anytime we can lose about 120lbs off the nose of the car we figured was a positive. For the record nothing happened to the LSX iron block at all! Bottom line, we were offered a fair deal on a RHS block and took it. Furthermore, Kurt Urban can confirm that and the integrity of the LSX iron block. So we ordered new pistons and the rest of the shortblock pieces will transfer over ie, crank, rods. On top of that we are ditching the hydraulic roller cam and putting in a solid roller so we can maximize the power. So much for a street car. We are also upgrading the chassis so we can legally go faster than 8.50. The mild steel cage is getting pulled out and a chromoly 25.3 is replacing it.

FYI, I am planning on listing my LSX block for sale. It is fully machined and ready to go. If it doesn't sell then I'll keep it as a back up. Below are video's of pass #3 and #4 in that order with the timeslip increments. I hope you enjoy them! Can't wait to get back out and see what this little F1C can do.

Pass #3, Letting out about 100 foot before the 1/8 mile
60: 1.315
330: 3.660
660: 5.82
MPH: 104.33

Pass #4, Letting out just past the 1/8 mile and coasting to the 1/4
60: 1.336
330: 3.697
660: 5.670
MPH: 126.952
1320: 9.089
MPH: 121.949

What caused the timing issue and are you going to a distributor ignition?

No problem. **** happens when you are trying to do different things. We think we have it figured out now. Cubic inches will be the same, 410".

Because this is plenty big enough for a F1C and the F2 I am going to throw on it later. If anything I should probably decrease the cubic inches. We are also building a dedicated race car with a 463" LS Dart billet block, All Pro Heads, CFE sheetmetal manifold and F3R 131 or 135.

Here is what is going in our other car. It is still in the early stages of mock up and clearancing. We are probably 3 months away from this being finished. The car is a 2002 Trans Am, stock suspension set up, 25.3 chassis and will run XDR/TT5.
