I ran them 18psi on my 408, 998rwhp pushing through the converter. never pushed water and that was with stock gm l92 heads and ls9 gaskets, i did oring the block, left the the heads flat. stock arp torqued to 90lbs. since i have upgraded to lsx ls3 heads. went with copper this time because the ls9s were taking forver to get.
also i made some passes at 24psi, 18* timing, no issues.

they were stainless orings, they might be out .030", they dont go through the copper just hold it in place. the copper gaskets are 0.041" i believe. they are right outside the of the embrosed oring.

on my 408 they held 19-20psi no problem (made 937rwhp) , the block cracked (6.0 iron) before it even tried to lift the heads, but it cracked the block due to detonation. ls9 gaskets are the way to go.

Check out AutomagicLS1's build. Made alot of hits (25-30) on 26lbs/16deg of timing on E85 at mid 900rwhp, and made a few hits at 30-32lbs and 22deg and have no signs of pushing water. Iron AES 408/AFR 225s, and previously a alum rod/piston 5.7 with the same afr 225s
