Default 383 shortblock for boost...your thoughts and criticisms welcome

i'm looking at one of texas-speeds rotating assemblies here:

eagle crank (website rates these at 1500hp, really????)
callies compstar rods
weisco -8cc dish pistons
gm mls gaskets

how do you think this will hold up to two small twins (60's or 62's) pushing ~12psi? calculated static CR of 9.81:1, hoping for 700+rwhp...do you think these parts are solid enough for my power goals?

A standard crank will hold that power, so wouldnt worry.

And 700hp isnt hard to achieve or putting much stress on anything.

A single turbo would be as handy, or the turbos you mentioned would easily make the power.

I would go to the Callies crank. They tend to have tighter tolerances and more consistent finish work on their cranks. If we are building the short-block you will have to upgrade to it as we now use Callies exclusively in our short-blocks. However, I can get you the Eagle crank in the rotating assembly if you are just wanting to have another machine shop assemble the motor. Let me know if you have any questions and we'll get you fixed up!

Those parts listed shouldnt have a problem getting to your goals , as recommended about i would opt for the callies crank over the eagle

i used compstar crank , rods, and some diamond pistons with a lot more dish putting my setup around 8.5-1. Made a little over 900rwhp at 20psi.

alright, sounds like the 383 shortblock with callies crank is the way to go...now on to the tougher question:

can i get by with ported ls6 heads or do i need to step up to AFR's or trickflow etc

Depends on how much boost you are planning on running. If you are going to be in the neighborhood of 15+ I would definitely look into an aftermarket casting head. I would look into something like a PRC 227cc head or maybe a TFS head. If you aren't pushing the motor that hard, we can set you up with a ported GM casting to get you where you want to be.
