Weird Setup idea...with questions (turbo)
Here is the idea...i have an LS6 that i want to turbo...i have the ebay kit with a t4 60mm turbo and a 3" intercooler...i also have a t6 108mm turbo...i was thinking about installing the ebay kit and the t4 60mm turbo the way it would normally...then run the cold side of the t4 through the intercooler then into the hot side of the t6 to spool the larger turbo...then run the cold side of the t6 into the motor...and the hot side of the larger turbo as just a down pipe???? i know this may seem crazy and really weird..but im curious if the theory will work and if anyone has seen any setup like this before...

sounds like reverse compounding to me. using the small turbo to spool the big one? most ppl use the big one to do all the work and then the little one compresses the air further

Running turbo's in series is done on the diesel trucks all the time (some come from the factory this way). If you want to see how it should be connected up, then look up the diesel trucks.
Exhaust gas should boost the small first, then bypass into the larger one.
I don't think you can run enough boost on these cars to justify that kind of setup though...unless you just want to do something fun.

im not worried about people making fun of me at all...im not very knoweldgible about this kind of setup...which is y i asked for some help...this was a learning process and i have already got some insight..and any more that comes in will only help further...for the others that gave some useful info...thanks

I wouldn't consider anything like this unless you have a manual car and intend to make more then 800-900 HP or so. IMO, less then that you can get a non-laggy single turbo setup. More then that I feel even the V8 turbo setups (on a manual) can start to get a little pudgy on the street - and may benefit from some sort of spooling advantage.

i thought about this. A nice little T70 up fornt piping into a BIG T6 at the rear.You could rig it up torun as a sequntial setup if you wanted (somewhat better than compound boosting if you are not running MASSIVE boost). Whichever way, compound or sequential, you would need ALOT of weastgate on the front turbo.

The diesel guys do this all the time. Check this duramax, its a 95mm feeding a 71.

Your main concern would be space. Good luck fitting two turbos of that size under the engine bay with all of the additional piping. It is an awesome idea, but an idea only. Speed tried to do it a long time ago, but never got it to work. Here's the thread:
