Building a new kit including headers
#81
If you do this make a thread about it too lol. I would love to see how you cope with a big *** DOHC motor..Lol.
Also I saw that you weren't sure what coating you were going with, ever heard of these guys?

They did my brothers headers and look awesome. Also do a lot of import stuff.

Finally finished the turnaround I was on and got back to work on the kit. 50 days strait of working 13-14 hours a day. It was awesome to sleep in this morning, lol.
I built the downpipe today and started on the waste gate. I am going put a v-band on the end of the DP and recirculate the wastegate.

No foot pedal yet, I have gotten a lot more comfortable with this rig. I think a pedal is going to be a must when I give aluminum another shot. Once you get the base metal when it will take the filler you have to roll the heat way back. I also quit using so much filler rod and just ran the torch down the joint if I had a good fit. Same thing with the slip fits like the v-band. It welded much faster and came out quite a bit better.

Yes having a pedal really helps, I tigged all my hot side with a lincoln sa-250 (stick pipeline welder) but with a tig torch scratch starting. Welding without a pedal will make you become a better & faster welder but with aluminum its hard not to key hole it without a pedal. fwiw, just fuse welding does lay out a lot better but if you have a lot of vibration and weight on the welds they are more prone to crack.

I got a pile of stuff in so I started moving forward again. I took my intake to have it powder coated and saw that they had a metal fab shop so I got them to bend me a radiator support. I should finish the welding the bungs into the hot side tomorrow and probably take it back to them to have it ceramic coated.

Sure can, I will check it tomorrow
I'm thinking of going to a sticker shop, having them put something on the aluminum plate that holds the radiator then bead blast it, any ideas.
Maybe something like this but with Got Boost? with the snail on the side
