In your first post you state this combo (the 390) to be good to 2k, what do you do to improve reliability? Oring'ing the bock and heads seems to do the trick to make the head gaskets last past 1500 reliably, its the cylinder sleeves that fail, ask Fireball lol.

With LSX block, 390 using Callies Billet rods and 3.800 dragonslayer crank will work to 2000hp using 6 bolt heads etc. That was the original 1st post, I edited that post to show pricing for other 390 shortblocks we offer since it was asked, perhaps thats the confusion?
I find your recent posts very critical, if you don't like what you see, move on

For that power level, I typically don't recommend a 5.7 block, they crack all over the place, sleeves, deck, if its a later 5.7 block with breathing hole they can crack at the bottom of the bore. MID sleeve would fix alot of that, you can MID sleeve early 98-99 LS blocks without LS6 breathing setup. Perhaps you have an early block?

Just for reference for people that havent looked at the first post of this thread since it was startd. Below Fraser lists the prices for the different combinations and if you supply the block it shouldnt change the price if it is a aluminum block or iron. But I am sure Fraser will jump in to clarify.

If you supply the block, can take $350 off the price
(Take $3495 - $350 = $3145, in that case need a block shipped to me to build. )
Outright price for Aluminum block version
385ci Aluminum LS2 block $3995
399ci Aluminum LS3 block $4350
Either Version
CP pistons 2618 forged -15cc R/Dome dish
Gas nitrided ring steel top ring (made by NPR Japan)
Compstar H beam rods ARP 2000 bolts
Compstar 3.825" crankshaft 24 or 58x reluctor
King HP bearings
ARP main studs
LS2 or LS3 block

I have Dart 225 heads. I'm thinking I'll go with the TVS2300. Are the heads going to be ok? What boost level am I looking at with the TVS 2300 and your 390?
