Default turbo motor converter.. 4l80e

im down to needing to pick what converter company i am goin with.
motor is goin in my 04 GTO

347 ls1 with ~9.5:1 compression
TSp ls6 heads.. for now
VA speed cam 33x/32x
built 4l80e
3.42 rear gears
tc76 .96(hopefully 1.32 ar)

i have the tci flexplate so i believe that the converter needs the ls1 bolt pattern also..

i want to know what converter company you recommend and why..
want to stay in about the $1000 range and want something that will be strong 1000hp range...

i know i will be goin with about a 3200-3400 stall..

A triple disk 4l80e convertor from circled is in that price range, and with the experience I have had with mine they are the only company I will ever buy from.

Yank 3400 here and it's working well. A multiple disc lockup would be nice for that extra mph or two at the track but overall I'm happy. Think I paid $850 or so.

i have a yank PY3600 in my car. by the math it slips 13% at the track.(time in sig) Its good on the street. i only drop 500 rpm during a run for all the shifts. I also run 3.42 gears and the car has a race wieght of 3800LBS.
still working on my 60 foot with it. i can foot brake the car to about 2900rpm
hope this helps

Except for the cam, your setup will be very close to my truck combo. I use a circle d 3000 triple disc. It is a bit loose for a 5k lb work truck. In a 3800 lb car it would work great.

I'm running a Yank PY3400 and never had an issue. Tech support from Yank has been very good based on my experiences.

I would tighten up that converter.

oh forgot to add that Dave @ YANK has the best Tech support i have ever had period. i call the shop one day and it was not open. i did not leave a message. and the next day Dave calls me back. i guess he looks at his caller id and returns his missed calls. that has me sold.

i called him today about my converter and its rpm drop. it drops 600rpm between shifts. from what i understand you want at least 800rpm. so its going to get tighten up to 3400stall

I bought a yank basically because MM had proven they work with a 4l80 in a heavy car which is what I have. But I wouldn't think twice about trying a Circle D either.

Yeah, I believe Dave (MM) has a Yank SC3400 in his car! Is that right Dave?

We ran a Yank "SC3000" in a Supercharged Hummer, 402 2.8KB, AFR Heads, TR cam, custom headers ect. That verter worked really well at 15Lbs boost in that heavy rig. Do not lock a single disk...."WITH BIG POWER" !!!!!
