Default 370, Garrett GT55-94, truck manifolds build thread. ***UPDATED Oct 1, 2012******

Well i have been putting this off for awhile, been busy on the car. Goal is to go fast, and stay on the street. Here is the specs of the build:

-370(under the knife) 317 heads worked, wiseco pistons, callie rods, stock crank
-E85
-Powerglide
-12bolt
-Spool and 3.42 gears
-Garrett GT55-94 turbo .96 AR T6
-Truck manifolds
-3 inch y pipe
-5 inch downpipe going out the side of the fascia.
-4" intake no intercooler
-edelbrock vic jr
-holley 90mm TB
-160lb high imp injectors
-Afco double adjustable shocks all 4 corners
-JGS 60mm BOV
-JGS 60mm Wastegate
-EPP FI camshaft

Got the hotside ran last weekend, cold side done tonight, and am currently working on mounting the radiator. The fabrication is taking a little long as I want everything to unbolt for easy access, maintenance, tear downs.

I left my camera at the shop, so i will post more tomorrow & more info.

That's a lot of turbo for a 370. That's about the size you get to start having fun with packaging it all.

If you plan on staying on the street, have you thought about the radiator and fan setup?

looks like a blast, Question, i see a lot of large T-6 turbos such as yours on small cube cars. where are you expecting this to spool?

Yes sir. Installing it today, and will have pictures up tonight. If the car runs a little warmer than i want there is a additive that you can put in the coolant to help assist on the hot hot days. I cant remember what its called though.

Good question, Im not 100% sure I would like it to be as low as possible. The guy I got the turbo off of was running it on a stroked 302, not sure on the exact cubes, but it was smaller than a 370.

Is it water wetter your thinking? redline makes it. straight water+this will cool better than any coolant. wait till the weather warms up a bit!

I'm in for some pics. I'm interested in seeing how you are going to have everything routed. Are you going to keep the hood latch as well or have a pin on hood?

I would say you will need a smaller turbo for that 370ci. I know a few people that has went to big for the cubes and they are having a hell of a time getting that big bitch to spool. Bigger is not always better. In a build like this everything has to match up or you have spent a lot of money to go no faster than 10s.

You might want to rethink your cubes if you are going to keep that big sucker. Just my opinion.

That turbo will work fine with the 370ci engine. I may put a bigger turbo on a Smaller cube engine. Its all in the compression, Cam, and tune.

I am using aerocatch hood latchs mounted to where the stock hood stops are located. I realize that the 3 inch is overkill, dont hate. I got the radiator in place and everything tonight, i will post up some pictures shortly.
