Default Got new ERL 427 engine home today!

Well finally got my ERL 427 sitting in my garage and getting ready to r and r the fubared 408 and get the new bad boy in there hopefully have it up and running within month as have to send away the exhaust manifolds and turbo housings for coating.

So hopefully have some good luck this season last season wasn't so good when my 4000 or so 408 lost oil pressure when warm and found bearings in the oil filter.

Hopefully damage is not too bad on the 408 so can get some decent bucks back from it. With luck this should finally be year that get to dyno and track my 99.

I am not sure.I got it from Canadian performance Dave Delucas old company.Dave passed away during my build. The engine was sent cross border to not sure who to finish up.
I installed it and it had not great oil pressure but figured that was just the way it was since it had big clearances and was iron block. It never went to the red and was running slp pump with the lower pressure or is it lower volume spring.
Ran ok for 3000 or so miles. Then right about month before end of season last year was driving and oil light was on. I had installed higher pressure or higher volume spring but pressure really didn't come up that much. Had been running 10/40 non synth . And may no more about 408 after dissection.I think clearances were set up wrong. No build sheet. Noone to talk to about it. So no real idea till dissection.
LIght came on and pressure was zero. Was just around corner from home. Let it cool down and pressure came up and drove it home. But when restarted and it got warm the pressure again went to zero. Thought maybe sender but pain to change sender in the fourth gens they put it in a pretty dumb place.
So checked oil and it looked fine but cut filter and saw bearing material. So parked car and that was it. Buddy works at local machine shop part time so can get it fixed but they don't specialize in ls1 engines so thats why ordered last one from specialist company.

So this time went with ERL they have the name of course. And big company. So far everything is great and sure got a proper build sheet with my new ERL engine.
Its built short block so will install cam, heads etc and r and r engine. As said about month or so should do it ,didn't coat exhaust manifolds and turbo exhaust housings want to do that this time around.
Think its good idea. Also be installing new bmr custom aps kmember, new LG upgrade turbos as well. Should make for a crazy ride it was nuts before just at 7.5psi with the stocker aps turbos. Don't really need more power but whatever have it if want it.

Hoping to see a 9.xx from the car at like 140 then retire it since not sure going to put rollbar into it and certainly no full cage. I have a race talon for racing this 99TT is street/show car. Local track is strict but have few outlaw tracks to try to get the 9.xx run.
They are not that far away.
No dyno in my city though have to make pretty good drive for that.

So crossing fingers and hoping better luck this time around.

Should have it out of the shipping box and on my engine stand getting assembled within a few weeks. Will take some pics for sure. Have to remove my 408 starting next few days on that ,have to send the exhaust manifolds and turbo exhaust housings away to nearby city for ceramic coating, didn't do that before but want to now.
Quite a few parts are coming over from the 408. Using AFR 225 heads for now 4 bolt, but the ERL is setup so can use 6 bolt if want to. Will be running ls9 cam, yella terra 1.7 rockers, slp oil pump, high volume water pump, slp double roller chain and for now my fast 90 intake and NW tb. May upgrade to fast 102 intake and bigger tb at some point. See how it goes.

I wish you luck, you have encountered quite a few problems that never seem to get you down. Bob

https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...tall-99tt.html

Lots of pics there!
Would be happy to meet up with you BigBadWhitey and go for some cruises.
My 99 TT is wintering in Regina currently ,did kick around selling it and had it for sale a few times but didn't get my happy price which was 40k.And that was before the 427 install. Not sure want to sell it anymore. So likely either fly back and pick it up in may/june or have buddies from Regina drive it out to me. Not going to ship it out had bad luck with shipping cars in past.
I still am into taking it for dyno not sure where somewhere with dynojet maybe Edmonton or Calgary or Vancouver not sure Kelowna has chassis dynojet?
I would also like to run it thru a few 1/8 mile runs at Thunder Mountain guess it isn't closing down or some quartermile runs at Mission or that other closer 1/4 mile track about 2 hours out from Kelowna.
Also the 408 was recently sold to guy back in Regina. If do sell the 99 TT off then will buy a viper right away ,if don't sell it not big deal get viper in year or so. My new plan is to build a stable of stock or very very near stock cars.Z06 was first car in that stable, viper will be second. Maybe am getting a bit too old for this modded stuff especially crazy nuts modded stuff. The 99TT is a real beast of a car. But I do love the sound of the turbos, blow offs, all that FI stuff. So even if do get rid of the 99 a nice porsche 911 twin turbo awd will be in my future as well. And still have few talon turbos including race talon that hopefully can track at Thunder or few other ones this year as well.

Also down on Gordon not far from OKM where kids go to school see two nice f bodies a black lt1 and yellow third gen. Maybe you know that guy? Another year or two going to be buying my son a car and likely be an f body. My first car when was 1977 bandit TA.

Any tips on how to be able to afford all those amazing toys?
