I have found it helpful to mount the turbo as close as possible to the passenger side right over the axle. Brace the turbo to the body and add a flex pipe pre-turbine so the exhaust won't crack. This way avoids the standard mounting that you would use for the muffler. It can save a couple of inches if done right.

Im actually trying to build a rear mount set-up right now on my convertible, so it has the extra sub-frame braces and its lowered. I tried to mock up some tubing and was going to use 2.5" oval which is 1.75" x 3". Even with the shorter pipe, I only had about 2 inches. So right now im stuck on how to run the cold side back up to the front.

well i took it for a test drive.. i have less than 2 inches.. i using a t72 thats pretty giant... but i have no idea how to mount it any higher???
i have it pressed up against the heat shield on the gas tank.. the only thing i can think of is cut the trunk out and put a piece of sheet metal up then route some piping there. hang the turbo where the trunk used to be. thats my only thing i can think of.....(im a fabricator but im outa options)
