Default Thoughts on my wastegate placement?

I don't have room to put my wastegate plumbing on the "engine" side of the merge, so I thought about plumbing it on the "radiator" side, then sweeping it back towards the pipe coming from passenger side, and have the wastegate dump to atmosphere just infront of merge plumbing. I plan to cut a 180* u bend roughly in half, and slice it up from there as needed to get the exact placement I want. I should be able to have a slight angle upwards with the wastegate plumbing to better flow with the merge.

Thoughts?

looking at your hot pipes from this angle, it looks like the radiator side is the better choice, i just did mine today. no fun fitting up the pipes for tig welding. your set up is looking good.

Thanks! Yeah, I thought as far of "direction of airflow travel" is concerned, it seems to be more in lines with that.

Well, here's how it came out. Still need to clean up the merge on the inside a little bit, but you get the general idea.

Mine is setup the same way and I cannot control boost on my precision 76gts with a 46mm gate. The TC76 and turbosmart 38mm would control boost down to 7-8lbs. The reason being is the TC76 had much higher back pressure causing greater flow through the wastegate. Now with my 76gts I need exhaust flow to control boost as I have less back pressure. You will be fine with a tc turbo but anything that flows more on the exhaust side you will have issues controlling boost. I can run 6lbs with my cutout closed though my dual dual, but if I open the cutout I hit 14lbs in 3rd gear with my 6lb spring.

Is that due to the location on the merge, or the size of your wastegate? I can't think of a much better angle/place to put it.

I'm running a 46mm gate and had the 38mm gate on there. It hasn't made a difference because the exhaust is by passing the merge with the lower back pressure. Try to angle it upward if you can at all, what you want to do is try to catch the incoming gases.

Here are some diagrams from turbosmart, my precision instructions has the same advice in it.
