Default Anyone used Probe forged pistons for high hp?

I searched around on here and can't really find anything bad about them, but most of the builds I saw were only around the 500-600hp range.

Here's the situation: A while back I bought an LQ4 that was ready for boost, but probably only 500hp if I had to guess. It had the stock crank, some no-name forged rods, and probe forged pistons, all with ARP hardware. I plan on running 1200hp (flywheel) through an f1r procharger, so I decided to beef up the bottom end. I purchased a Dragonslayer crankshaft for it, and just finished placing an order for Callies Ultra billet rods. Now I'm looking at the pistons. They are obviously forged, and since not even the strongest piston can hold up to detonation (in the unfortunate event), I'm not sure if it'd be worth my time and money to replace the pistons. However, if they are obviously a weak link I'd like to get it taken care of before finishing the assembly.

So, what do you guys think?

We have used them in several builds ranging from 400hp 4 cylinders to 1100 hp v8 builds.

Ford guys love them, from what ive read. Ive done alot of searching on the subject here, and you will get alot of people saying "go with Weiseco, or Diamond" etc.

Im not sure what a favorable ring land height is, but i know the ones that i have sitting on the shelf for a stock stroke and 4.030 bore, the top ring is .250 down from the top.

is that good? I dont know. But i have yet to actually read something bad about them. Im writing this, not to convince you of anything, but to tell you what ive found so far.

and Subscribe for info myself. In

Also, they have to different kind, SRS, and PRS or soemthing, the difference being 2618 and 4032 or whatever the other is, mine are the 2618 forgings.

My partner who is a Ford guy has been using them for around 12 years or so and never had an issue. We had our own set designed for Subaru Sti motors.

My personal LS motor will probably get wiseco pistons eventually since they offer about the only 5.3 forged piston around, lol.

http://www.theturboforums.com/smf/in...pic=103675.200 guy had probe pistons in a 5.3 bored to 5.7. Piston skirts fell off eventually on page 9 and he now has a 6.0. He did push it really hard though!

If the only failure is for a low 8 second car that had multiple passes behind it, I'll go ahead and give these a shot. Thanks for the feedback guys.

It's actually an early 280z, but it's basically the same. The Z still has some bodywork to be finished, and the engine is still being assembled at the machine shop, but ideally I'd like to have her running by the end of this year / beginning of next. I don't have a build thread, but this about sums it up:
