I thought you had the 5.0 coming after you LOL

How good does the auto tune work? Does it just get you close and then you can go in and clean it up, or is it good enough after the auto tune that you leave it alone?

its way faster if you get it close but then its nice that it cleans up everywhere in between, its not perfect but it does work really well.

like if you get it to 10.0 in boost and you just keep rolling into it, it will slowly trim it to the target. this will take a long time if you are really far out of whack, and it will drive like **** obviusly if you are too lean and trying to accelerate haha

so at first its best to have someone who can do a little tuning drive with you and get the tables between 11.0 and 14.0 while driving.

then the auto can trim and show you trouble spots.

recently i let it work on my friends 5.3 car for fun on the dyno and it was super fat, like 9.0 bottomed out just because i wanted to make sure it was safe i had alot of fuel in around 20lbs.

i just rolled into it the first time and it was coughing so let out of that first pull it trimmed and the next 4 got it to a 10.5 nearly arrow strait.

i was targeting 11.0 so we left it there for the track to see how it will trim at the track.

its not perfect but it is very nice for driving by yourself and there are easy results with it.

It took a couple tries/days for my friend/tuner to get his car running on MS3 and to be honest my buddies made 1kwhp on LSx cars 800hp hondas, turbo mustangs, he's seen alot of tuning software and MS3 was just annoying as ****. Sorry to **** on your thread OP, just felt like i should throw my .02 cents in, since i have toyed with ms3 before. Oh and just to give you an idea of how annoying it is, this was with a "plug and play" kit from DIYautotune, i can only imagine how shitty it would be to wire a whole swap from scratch based on ms3 LOL. **** that ****.
Yes I run MS3X on my mustang on a jy 5.3L that is making 813+whp on a gt45r @19psi We built a harness from scratch (no plug in play) here is how to wire it http://msextra.com/doc/ms3/ls1.html then hit the drop down and selected ls1 (24x) crank trigger setting and it fired right up in just a few mins. We used auto tune for the light throttle tuning on the dyno which works great then we tuned the boost section normally data logging each run on the ms3 then going back and making needed adjustments. I could not be happier with my choice to run ms3x and I do understand its not for everyone. I would not think of myself as a troll on this forum and im always willing to help out where I can at the track or on the forums. I do wish you good luck with your setup Im a huge ms fan (as I have a street car running ms2 3.0 on a vw 1.8L 20v turbo making 300whp bone stock motor with a garrett t3t4 a desert prerunner ford ranger running a toyota/lexus 1uzfe on ms1 3.0 board and have had about 20-25 other ms powered projects from drag cars ,dune buggys, road race cars, desert trucks etc thru my shop over the years dating as far back a '03) so im stoked to see more lsx's making the switch over to ms yours being one of them. If you ever do decide to make the change ill be the first one on this forum trying to help you out if or when you needed it.

Maybe try to keep it locked up a lot more, when it's locked it creates much less heat.

Thanks a lot for the detailed answer. I'm thinking about going this route when I switch to a boosted LS setup rather than the LS computer. It will be my first tuning that I have ever done, so the auto tune would help me quite a bit and also help me learn everthing

You have to remember highway gears will ride the converter harder (when not locked) like a much heavier vehicle.

Great video, his reaction is pretty funny.
Denmah how do you guys know which 4l80e to pick? So many people are selling them for like 400? Stock of course. That's cheaper then building my t56 and buying a street twin, and obviously everyone likes the
80e for daily driving.

Ill have to take a look at some local JYs, not too many people keeping the t56 in high horsepower applications with success.
