GM has introduced a new connecting rod bolt torque specification for GEN III and GEN IV Vortec small block V8 engines. The new specifiation continues the use of two passes. The second pass value has been increased from 75 degrees to 85 degrees.
Tighten the connecting rod bolts a first pass to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
Tighten the connecting rod bolts a final pass to 85 degrees using the J 45059 Angle Meter.

i absolutely reused the connecting rod bolts.
cars been running great, had it out for a long time again today with the microsquirt on 21lbs of boost.
ended up removing the ms1 and MSD box for now and permanently wiring in the microsquirt, and hooking up the tach output and some other things, cleaned up my wiring. i dont think im gunna have anymore problems with it, and at this point i think i have decided ill work through them...
car is doing great, "new" motor has been excellent. going to get it on the dyno friday at the latest.

studs are 40 then 80ftlbs on a middle working out pattern no particular order.
then i did the 15ftlbs and almost 1/4 turn eyeball on the stock rod bolts
everything is stock-reused, everything else is hammered down with a cordless rattle gun or a 6 inch ratchet.
right now its a 03 block 08 flat top gen4 pistons and rods
ls1 head gaskets re-used, g8 manifolds, LS1 intake, truck throttle body
