there is more wiring but its not terrible, the more i build them the easier they get, it still uses tuner studio, and basically there is a fuel table and a spark table and that is nearly the end of it for tuning.

the other tables are startup, rev limiter, adding or subtracting fuel and spark at temps etc

but Basically you just scale and fuel and spark your way to power. and call it a day.

im thinking about starting some microsquirt videos showing how i built a harness and how it works, kinda sucks because i didnt do any MS1 and 6010 tuning videos yet, but i actually sold my stuff, so when i get the sunbird back on the dyno i have to show you guys something, even though i try to not waste any time on the rollers.

Now that you've gotten comfortable with running the spark from the MS Denmah, do you really think there's any benefit to looking backward at the more elaborate solution with the MSD box?

I'm definitely biased since I've been an MS'er for a long time, and was a beta tester for MS3, but with the LS engine "smart" coils I just can't imagine why you would add extra hardware into the mix... I apologize if you explained this stuff in one of your videos that I didn't see. Your videos are phenomenal BTW!

I'm subscribed to your YouTube page and I just seen your new video on the harnesses. Are you selling them yet? And if so inbox me the price.

I think it is easier if you are just getting into efi and you only want to build a so much of a harness and have half your wiring simplified etc. it isn't much more wiring to add in the coils crank and map sensor to the micro but alot more can be wrong and it can be discouraging to people who are just starting out with it

At least that's what I think

Thanks, I get your point!

I just watched your MicroSquirt wiring harness video from yesterday, and you've definitely got this down. Pretty awesome. So clearly the MicroSquirt is running wasted spark, was the MSD setup running wasted also? I've run wasted spark from a V3.0 board spark outputs up to about 8,500 at about 25psi with no problems, but I was just curious about the MSD...

Sounds excellent, did you have to change the tune much, or haven't you really had a chance to rip on it yet?

Is that a gen 4 or gen 3 style cam? I think it's worth a shot, who knows, these LS motors are like a drunk frat boy when it comes to cams. Pretty much anything works.

Microsquirt sure looks like an attractive option. Any suggestions on using it with a 4L80e trans? It doesn't look like its capable of operating the trans, what are you using?

I think you will be very happy with it and that it will be a noticeable upgrade over the LS9 cam.

lol well a 9.70 should come with just the decent launch off the anti lag, but noticable gains from this cam would certainly be welcome lol

thanks for your input martin

It can certainly control the 4L80e, the code is already written by JSMCortina, and has been used by other people on this board. However, one 'Squirt is required for the engine and one for the trans. The one used for the trans can pull in some of (or all of?) the required inputs from the one controlling the engine over the CAN wires.

At that point you are almost to the expense level of a Fast TCU. They are only about $500

Is that just a TCU, or an ECU and a TCU in one? If you really want to do a 'squirt transmission controller on the cheap, you could definitely get it done for $300.

Just the tcu, but if you are going to pay $350 for a second microquirt, it is not much of a jump to get the Fast TCU that comes with a harness and is basically plug and play.
