Well just found out the motor was never been cranked after the new cam install. Has to be engine builder error.

It was also giving us a crank/cam variation code which indicates the cam was off prior to Jared opening the engine up to swap the cam. I personally cranked on it for a bit after I flashed a base tune to the car and it didn't act right at all. Never fired up. What we think happened is they installed the cam dot down with the cranks dot down instead of up.

Who installed the cam? A 3 year old? Definitely sucks. Hope it gets together and you have no more problems.

That's why they say DOT-to-DOT, the two should be next to each other, not 180* from each other.

That sucks.

Correct, dot to dot isn't a hard concept to remember haha. I'm trying to figure out how anyone "degree'd" the cam in with it being off like this. When I tell someone I've degree'd their cam in that means I have used a dial indicator to find TDC located on a degree wheel mounted to the crank and then ran through the entire engine cycle with a dial indicator on a lifter to indicate all the specific valve events for both intake and exhaust.

Compression got raised to 10:1. Heads are done being milled already and on there way to being put back on. Should bump up power somewhat. I think all the problems have been solved now and we can try to get this thing thumping finally. Dammit I'm ready lol.

Heads back on. Tried to start up. Won't start. Going to look into the tune a bit, but if that's not the case thinking the reluctor wheel is not right.

Issues I've had so far.

Gen 4 block sent instead of gen 3.----means $500 for ls2 swap kit. (new sensors harnesses)
Not timed correctly aka bent valves. (builds top fuel motors)
Compression not what I asked for originally. Had to mill. (customer should get exactly what they want for 9 grand)
Possible that reluctor wheel is not right. (lets play the blame game. callies? aes?)

Sigh :/

That really sucks. I understand issues happen, but that's crappy quality control right there. It sucks that you have to go back and double check something that you paid to have done right.

if the reluctor wheel is off. id have them reimburse you for the ******* shop time its gonna cost you to pull the motor, strip it down, ship it, and put the ******* thing back in. not to mention the cam wasnt timed right costing you money in valves and milling the heads. hell. mine may have been timed wrong, i just happened to swap cams before i fired it for the first time.

Compression test on my block was low in two of the cylinders? All were in the 225's except two, #1 was at 210 and #6 was at 200. Called AES they said it was because the motor had not been broken in yet. Car runs strong and I havent checked compression again since. When I called them they had no idea who I was they said they had just gone to saving all their info into to a server. My block was number #51, they had no clue, weird. Just my two cents.

this is the only thing I've had a problem with. Jakes performance brute speed Texas speed circle d and loNnies and hell....even FIC have all had flawless complete and professional products they stand behind. I feel like my **** was thrown together at a whim and just disregarded because it's not a 60k dollar big block going on a car to win some race In australia. I've talked with alot of folks and despite the fact that I don't know everything there is to know about building a race engine I do have heavy influence.

Well I haven't made a phone call about the other issues yet. But once we get some hard evidence I'll feel justified. The main thing is time. I'm growing impatient. I think I've neared my limit. I have wicked thoughts of selling it and doing a H/C c7 lol. without the support from you guys and people like shortuning and race proven performance Id've probably abandoned ship by now. Life was simple when she was cam only.

Hang in there you have put in a lot of time and money to just give up. When it's all said and done it will have been worth it. I know what you mean about life being simple but if it were easy any body could do it.
