Default Rear Mounted, Oil-less, Comp Turbo Fbody?

I've been seeing a lot of people talk about them, but is anyone actually running one in their F-body?

I haven't seen anyone with a oil-less one in their f-body. There is a guy running the non-oil-less version of it in hi f-body. His is front mounted though. I'm pretty sure it can easily be done if mounted in the same place where turbos typically get mounted on rear mount turbo f-body builds. If you want to see one rear mounted and working well, take a look at Talon77's rear mount build with the Comp oil-less 80mm turbo in his old school trans am. I think he made near 800rwhp with a 5.3 on e85. Here's his thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...lts-759hp.html

I have the comp oil-less 8079 with the ct-5 cover...it will be front mounted in my El Camino. I'm hoping for somewhere near 1000rwhp with my forged lq9, tfs 235's and fast lsxrt on e85. Max boost i run will be around 20lbs.

Look up unleashed performance too! They did Talon77's 5.3 trans am build, they have a comp oil-less rear mount vette that made 850ish rwhp, and they just did a twin rear mount comp oil-less set-up on a5th gen camaro!

That's right! I forgot about that one. He's looking specifically for a f-body rear mount with the comp oil-less turbo, i think.

Been looking for the same..... I thought about asking unleashed or the modular turbo ppl but I don't think I'd get a response seeing how busy they are

Thanks for the info guys. It'd be cool to think I'm putting together one of the first oil-less rear mount F-body's, even though that's probably not the truth.

Hey man.. Definitely give unleashed a call. They are doing insane work with these rear mount setups! And thanks dee for the shout out

Don't call unleashed anymore unless you want some windows tinted. Since rob left, it's about all they are worth IMO.

I am working on building one but I am seriously on the slow boat. Just in the gathering parts stages. Hoping to put it together this winter. I would be curious to see what size you decide to go with. Comp recommended their T4 6767 for my setup. I don't have huge horsepower goals but I have been wrestling with the thought that it would be way to small even for a stock Ls1. When I was ready to buy I was intending to reach out to the guys at Unleashed and see if they were interested in selling me whichever one they recommend.

6767 is too small
do either a 7479 or 7679 with a cast wheel and a .96 open housing T4
or a 7279 billet wheel with a .96 open T4

I do really like mine.... It's an fbody but an older one 78 TA. It's been 10.22@140.98mph so far in the quarter but has a lot more left in it. Should be able to get it into the 9's this spring. I updated the converter right at the end of last season, picking up nearly half a second the first pass.

It's an ultimate converter (out of North Carolina). It was actually the same one I had, but I sent it back to Lenny there and had him loosen it up. Before the stahl speed was waay to low, around 2600rpm. He loosened it up so it stahl's to 3800 now and I can actually leave the line under some good boost. The 10.22 run was still coming out of the hole soft trying to figure where the tires would hold vs where it blew them off. Here's the video below (before the rains came) you can see it leaving the line. It's still soft out of the hole:

so whats it look like running water lines in the back compared to oil? do you still need a scavenger or is the engine able to provide enough pressure?

Nope....no scavenger pump or anything like that. The factory water pump supplies enough power to circulate the water well enough. (At least in my case as well as for my brother who bought Raymer's turbo C5 vette with same rear mount setup). Only thing I've done is changed the antifreeze/water mixture once or twice to keep an eye on things.
Its been a great setup!!
