Turbo LSx Fox Mustang Build
Been working on this project for a few months now...... Finally had some time to start a thread and get caught up. Like most my progress is slow, work keeps me busy.... that and $$$.
Started with a 1989 mustang lx coupe.... Wasn't running when I picked it up (5.0 and a t5 trans backed with a pretty worn 8.8) Hard part was finding places to move all the stuff in my garage. Easy part was next day.... out with the old.
came out fairly easy for working alone...
Since I had finally located a motor and trans I figure it would be a good time to list the plans for the setup
Starting with the stock 1989 Mustang LX coupe
Started with the chassis and related work
- mini tubs
- 8 point cage
- through floor subframe connectors
- Coil over front band rear
- AJE K member + Mounts
Motor
2006 6.0 Lq4 Iron with 50k miles
1996 4l80E
Sorry for the sideways picture.... but you get the idea
Turbo etc.
Forced Inductions S400 SX78
Tial 60mm Wastegate
Up and Forward Headers
Ford 8.8
Narrowed 2" per side
35-Spline Strange Axles
Strange Race Spool
3.55 Gears
Sn95 Brake Conversion
....

After everything was removed.... interior, exterior, wires etc. I decided to clean up the engine bay and do what I could until some parts arrived. Some of you may know the ford engine bay looked like swiss cheese from the factory so I decided to fill the holes.....
Then my shitty flux core welder died. So that can only mean one thing... New tools!
So at that point I had already filled most of the holes
I decided that still looked like **** and hey why not play a little more with the new miller. Plated both sides off and I think it looks way better!

Cage was next..... went in without a problem even smoothed all the welds
As well as mini tubs and through the floor sub frame connectors
Few days later the AJE stuff started to roll in so I slid the motor and tranny in.... Trans required the tunnel to go through some BFH clearancing. But the Motor is in!!
Fast forward a few months--------->
- Motor and trans are in
- Headers installed and crossover fabricated
- Radiator supports removed and replaced
- Firewall/wheel well modified for 5" downpipe
- Rear coil overs installed

Now that I have some progress I can elaborate on plans and what I hope to accomplish.
The plan is to add the basics to the LQ4 - turbo cam, valve springs, rod bolts, head studs, head gaskets. csu 850 on top of the Vic jr. intake with some E85. Car will look like a drag car but see about 50% street 50% strip. As it sits right now the plan is to run around 20lbs of boost on E85 and hopefully make 800-1000hp and potentially a high 8 sec pass or a low 9. Should weigh in around 2800lbs all said and done. Set up will include A2W set up, 5" aluminum downpipe, CSU 850, coil overs, fiberglass front end, complete fuel system etc.
As I said progress will be slow and any insight or sug, gestion will be appreciated. This is my first real build but I have been around this stuff for a few years now.

Set up will contain
6.0 LQ4 + cam, valve springs, rod bolts etc.
Built 4l80e + manual valve body, Brake etc.
S400sx78
A2W setup behinf driver seat
Blow Thru carb + E85 + 20lbs of boost
the plan is to make 1000hp and run a high 8 or low 9
on paper this should be attainable (1000hp and a 2700lb car)
Next up is to fab the aluminum downpipe through across the tob of the passenger header and down behind the strut tower and out behind the passenger front tire.
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Soon as that is done all the cold side fabricating. Stay posted for more to come....

yes, its a blow through. This eliminates a large percentage of underhood wiring and harnesses as well as helps out with tuning. Theres no one remotely close to where I live with enough knowledge or customer service to do a EFI tune successfully. There is however several guys making huge power who offered services to setup the blow through.

can you be more specific, im not quite sure what measurement your looking for? also when you say "cowl" are you reffering to the hood? If so im running a large cowl hood.
Let me know and I will be more than glad to measure, just wanna make sure the info im giving you is correct

dr. turbo - actually had a question on v-bands. Cant remember but on the outlet for the dp i think it measured 4.5" or so... what size clamp assembly do i need and where can i find a mild/aluminum style as I want to run a aluminum dp?
Also on the cold side, the outlet o.d. of the turbo measures i think a little over 3.5" what size would I need for that?
- sorry if im beating a dead horse or asking a obvious question, just want to be sure
Thanks - Jason
