What tires are you high HP guys running on the street? 800-1000rwhp
As title states.. I asked a similar question in wheels and tires but i figured i would get more applicable/first hand answers here.
My T/A is twin turbo , 6 speed and a stock width 9". Around here, people mostly roll race. I would also enjoy the occasional trip to the track. I currently have nitto 555R's on my 17" fikse's needless to say traction is non existent. The car makes 803rwhp on 12psi and i would assume I can make 900+ on high boost. I have a set of 15x10 race stars that i want to put some beefy radials on (sidewall!) What would you guys get? What size etc? Im thinking hoosier or M/T radials.. what say you??

Here's what I've ran on my mustang....
Mt pros are horrible on the street
28x10.5w mt drags work GREAT
275/60 futura pep boys tires work quite well, but I have a good boost controller and I've been 9.5's on these tires at the track
If you are killing a set of good tires, look at the tuneup, timing/boost adjustments can make a huge difference.
Also I did like the hoosier qtp's on the street on other cars, the hoosier slicks was real hit or miss. I've ran the old mt pros in the 235/60 and 255/60 size and they worked pretty good on my ltd.

MT 325/50 r15 ET Street on weld prostars on mine. Trans Am rear quarters are 3/4" wider than a camaro and these will fit in the stock wheel well and be able to tuck into the body. You will have to massage the foward lower section of the inner fender though. I used a torch and body hammers so its was done nice and smooth then sprayed under coating back on the massaged area, you can tell anything was done to it. A 315 should fit without anything having to be done. My car will dead hook from a 5 mph roll on and stay planted on all the shifts.

Im a lil under 800 but my mickey e.t. streets (255/50/16) hook in anything other than 1st. Even in first, im not lighting them up but they are are spinning somewhat. I cant see any other tire working this well on the street. They are gonna be done soon but its really nice knowing i can race at any time and not worry about traction.
And like someone said above, i have my front shocks set pretty loose(single adj. unfortunately) and i dont have front sway bar so it plants the rear tires pretty well.

MT ET street 325/50/15 is my normal tire of choice.
Hoosier 28 11.50 slicks where horrible for street action only
Hoosier 275/60/15 drag radials work great, but expect only 1-2 weekends of heavy street racing before the fade away well before tread is to wear bars
Nitto 275/50/15 actually did pretty well for roll racing
Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T Radial Tires 6030 - mud/snow tires, do decent from a roll 9.9 at the track on them.
Timing and boost control are the biggest thing about making any tire work in any condition

I run M/T ET street II's 345/35/18's on my vette. I don't do any dig runs. They were awesome when I was on the YSi and making 1K. They'll spin to hell and back from a 60ish roll with the F2 now...
I had to drive home in an insane down pour last night, **** was all over the road even trying to be careful as I could be....
