Default Single TC78 or Twin GT35 for 5.3

Hey Guys, I have a quick question...

I have a 5.3 in my regal right now and currently have a TU1 Cam installed, 60lb injectors, bosch 044 pump,TH400 with a 3500 stall, 9 inch with 3.50 gears full spool and 35 spline axles.

I bought the OBX Turbo headers for it, I want to start plumbing my turbo stuff but am undecided if should keep my TC78 or go to twin GT35's since it would be so simple off of those headers, and that way I could keep all my piping the same when i want to swap to a 6.0 and bigger turbos.

Would it be better to go with the twins? or would it be better to just keep my TC78?

Any help will be great.

The GT35s will have more lag, but will be much better suited to larger engines and will make more power. The twins will match that TU1 a hell of a lot better too.

Smokeshow...you lost me there...the Ebay GT35s will spool very fast,Look at Matts Sloppy Mechanics picup truck,,I loved the numbers he put up with the GT35s and had instant spool...For my Regal (1986) i am going ebay gt35s and piping them like this

My daily driver is a 6.0 with GT35Rs. It's not laggy, but it certainly doesn't spool like a TC78. lol

The eBay GT35s seem to be different than the Garrett GT35s. Denmah maxed those things out pretty quick. The real ones support a ton more power then where he ended up.

Didn't he make like sub-600whp? Those eBay gt35s have more in them than that. His cam was just way too big for the exhaust housings on those turbos. Backpressure killed his power. You could see it in the dyno graph where the horsepower just leveled off way too soon.

I just want the Regal to run 9's, I have the suspension/Rearend to do it, I just want to make sure I have the HP to do it.

Make a crossover and use the turbo you have.
No reason why you should not hit 9's with a single if that regal can hook.

Also, careful trying to make a setup work with a 5.3 and then go to a 6.0.
If you are planning on going 6.0, buy parts for the 6.0 now and save the time and money.
It seems like many go out and buy parts and up selling them in the end once they realize they bought "too small" for their future goals.

Only thing I see that might be an issue with your current set-up is the injectors and pump....you should have twin 255's with 80lb injectors to make sure you are no maxing out and loosing the "window for error"...my 2 cents...I could be totally wrong and I am sure some one will rebuttal...

I agree with Chicago TDP, add another 044 and grab a set of 80lbs, you can probably flip the 60s and grab a set of 80s for out of the classifieds for very little added cost. Right now you will run out of fuel before you max that turbo out. With the upgrades to the fuel system you should be able to push over 700 to the tires and that will easily get your G body into the 9's as long as it puts the power to the ground.

There is a guy with a Mustang on here running either a 5.3 or 6.0 and a TC78 that went 9.0's@150mph.

I'd say you can easily run 9's with a properly setup suspension and a TC78.
